Which companies sponsor visas for backend software engineers in Colorado?
Companies that have sponsored backend software engineers in Colorado include Palantir Technologies (Denver), Ibotta, Ping Identity, and LogRhythm, along with regional offices of larger tech firms like Google and Amazon. Defense and aerospace contractors in the Colorado Springs area also sponsor backend engineering roles, particularly for systems and infrastructure work.
Which visa types are most common for backend software engineer roles in Colorado?
The H-1B is the most common visa for backend software engineers in Colorado, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a computer science or related bachelor's degree. Employers also use the L-1B for intracompany transfers and the O-1A for engineers with exceptional ability. Australians may pursue the E-3, which has no lottery and is processed much faster.
Which cities in Colorado have the most backend software engineer sponsorship jobs?
Denver accounts for the largest share of backend software engineer sponsorship jobs in Colorado, with Boulder close behind due to its dense startup and SaaS company base. Fort Collins has a smaller but active tech hiring scene, partly connected to Colorado State University. Colorado Springs contributes sponsored roles through defense tech and cybersecurity contractors.
How to find backend software engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Colorado?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can search backend software engineer roles in Colorado without sorting through positions that don't sponsor. The platform surfaces employers actively hiring for sponsored backend roles across Denver, Boulder, and the broader Front Range, which is more efficient than searching general job boards and manually screening for sponsorship.
Are there state-specific factors that affect visa sponsorship for backend software engineers in Colorado?
Colorado's Equal Pay for Equal Work Act requires employers to disclose compensation ranges in job postings, which adds transparency when evaluating whether a role meets the prevailing wage threshold required for H-1B sponsorship. Colorado also has a strong pipeline of computer science graduates from CU Boulder and Colorado State, meaning employers are familiar with sponsoring new-grad backend engineers entering on OPT before transitioning to H-1B.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored backend software engineer jobs in Colorado?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
