Which companies sponsor visas for IT support roles in Colorado?
Large employers with established immigration programs are your most reliable starting point. In Colorado, that includes federal contractors like Lockheed Martin and Raytheon, telecommunications companies like DISH Network and Lumen Technologies, and technology firms in the Denver-Boulder corridor. Larger enterprises typically have dedicated HR and legal teams that handle H-1B visa and other sponsorship processes more routinely than smaller organizations.
Which visa types are most common for IT support roles in Colorado?
The H-1B is the most common visa for IT support professionals in Colorado, but it requires demonstrating the role qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a specific technical field. Candidates from Australia may qualify for the E-3 visa, and Canadian and Mexican nationals may be eligible under TN visa status. The L-1B is another option for intracompany transfers with specialized knowledge.
Which cities in Colorado have the most IT support sponsorship jobs?
Denver has the highest concentration of IT support sponsorship roles, driven by its financial services, healthcare, and technology sectors. Boulder follows closely, anchored by the University of Colorado system and a dense startup ecosystem. Colorado Springs is a strong market for IT support roles tied to defense contractors and military installations, which rely heavily on technical support professionals with security clearances.

Are there any Colorado-specific factors that affect IT support visa sponsorship?
Colorado's strong federal contractor presence in the Denver-Aurora and Colorado Springs areas means many IT support roles require security clearance eligibility, which can affect sponsorship timelines and visa compatibility. Additionally, Colorado's Department of Labor prevailing wage determinations apply to H-1B positions, so offered compensation must meet federally benchmarked levels for the specific location and role classification. University of Colorado and Colorado State alumni networks also feed a notable pipeline into local sponsoring employers.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored it support jobs in Colorado?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
