Which companies sponsor visas for IT support technicians in Colorado?
Colorado employers with documented H-1B sponsorship histories in IT roles include Lockheed Martin, Lumen Technologies, Optiv Security, DXC Technology, and Leidos, all of which have operations in the Denver metro area. Large healthcare systems such as UCHealth and SCL Health also sponsor IT support staff. Federal contractors in Colorado Springs represent another consistent source of sponsorship, given the concentration of defense and aerospace operations there.
Which visa types are most common for IT support technician roles in Colorado?
The H-1B is the most common visa for IT support technician roles in Colorado, though it requires the position to qualify as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree in a specific technical field. Some technician roles are classified as too general to meet that standard. The TN visa is an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals working in qualifying technical support capacities. Australian citizens may be eligible for the E-3 visa, which follows similar specialty occupation requirements.
Which cities in Colorado have the most IT support technician sponsorship jobs?
Denver accounts for the largest share of IT support technician sponsorship jobs in Colorado, driven by its concentration of tech companies, financial services firms, and corporate headquarters. Colorado Springs follows, supported heavily by defense contractors and military-adjacent IT operations. Boulder's technology corridor, anchored by the University of Colorado and companies like Google and Oracle, also produces a meaningful number of IT support roles open to sponsored candidates.
How to find it support technician visa sponsorship jobs in Colorado?
Migrate Mate filters IT support technician jobs in Colorado specifically by visa sponsorship eligibility, so you're not sorting through postings that won't consider international candidates. Search by role and state to see which Colorado employers are actively hiring technicians and have a history of sponsoring work visas. Focusing on Denver, Colorado Springs, and Boulder tends to return the most results given where sponsoring employers are concentrated.
Are there state-specific factors IT support technicians should know before pursuing Colorado sponsorship jobs?
Colorado's Equal Pay for Equal Work Act requires employers to post compensation ranges in job listings, which gives international candidates more visibility into whether a role meets prevailing wage requirements before applying. The state's strong presence of federal contractors also means some IT support positions require security clearances, which can complicate sponsorship for non-citizens. Roles tied to universities in Boulder and Fort Collins sometimes offer sponsorship through academic or research institution channels.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored it support technician jobs in Colorado?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
