Which companies in Colorado sponsor visas for system administrators?
Defense and aerospace contractors such as Lockheed Martin, Raytheon Technologies, and Northrop Grumman have significant Colorado operations and sponsor H-1B visas for IT infrastructure roles. Large technology employers including Oracle, IBM, and Arrow Electronics also file sponsorship petitions for system administrators. Managed service providers and cloud-focused firms in the Denver and Boulder corridors are additional sources of sponsorship.
Which visa types are most common for system administrator roles in Colorado?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for system administrators in Colorado, provided the role qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a relevant bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field. TN visa status is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying IT roles. Candidates already in the U.S. on OPT or STEM OPT may also find employers willing to transition them to H-1B sponsorship.
Which cities in Colorado have the most system administrator sponsorship jobs?
Denver accounts for the largest share of system administrator sponsorship activity in Colorado, driven by its concentration of corporate headquarters, financial services firms, and technology companies. Boulder adds significant volume through its software and startup ecosystem. Colorado Springs is notable for defense and government IT work, with employers tied to nearby military installations. Aurora and the broader Denver metro round out the primary hiring areas.
How to find system administrator visa sponsorship jobs in Colorado?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to browse system administrator roles in Colorado without sifting through positions that don't offer sponsorship. You can narrow results by location to focus on Denver, Boulder, or Colorado Springs. Because the platform targets international candidates, listings are generally sourced from employers with an established history of sponsoring work visas for IT roles.
Are there any Colorado-specific factors that affect system administrator visa sponsorship?
Colorado's prevailing wage requirements under the H-1B program are determined by the Department of Labor using Denver and regional metropolitan area data, so offered compensation must meet wage level thresholds for the specific location. The state's strong presence in defense contracting introduces an additional consideration: many roles at contractors with classified programs require U.S. security clearances, which are not available to most nonimmigrant visa holders, limiting the pool of sponsoring employers in that segment.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored system administrator jobs in Colorado?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
