Which companies sponsor visas for support engineers in Delaware?
Financial services firms are the most active visa sponsors for support engineers in Delaware. JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, and Barclays have established technology operations in Wilmington and have filed Labor Condition Applications for support-related roles. Life sciences companies in the Wilmington corridor, including those in pharmaceuticals and specialty chemicals, also sponsor support engineers for infrastructure and application support positions.
Which visa types are most common for support engineer roles in Delaware?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for support engineers in Delaware, provided the role qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a specific technical field. Employers in financial services and life sciences also occasionally sponsor L-1B visas for intracompany transferees with specialized knowledge. TN status is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering roles.
Which cities in Delaware have the most support engineer sponsorship jobs?
Wilmington is Delaware's primary hub for support engineer sponsorship, driven by its concentration of financial institutions and corporate headquarters. Newark is the second-most active city, largely due to proximity to the University of Delaware and a growing cluster of technology and healthcare employers. Smaller numbers of roles appear in Dover, primarily tied to state government contractors and healthcare organizations.
How to find support engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Delaware?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to identify support engineer roles in Delaware where employers are actively willing to sponsor. You can filter by state and job title to surface relevant openings across financial services, life sciences, and technology sectors. This saves time compared to manually reviewing job descriptions that rarely mention sponsorship upfront.
Are there any state-specific considerations for support engineers seeking sponsorship in Delaware?
Delaware's prevailing wage requirements for H-1B roles are set by the Department of Labor's wage data for the Wilmington metropolitan area, which includes parts of southeastern Pennsylvania and northern Maryland. Support engineers should be aware that roles titled broadly, such as general IT support, can face scrutiny over specialty occupation classification. Roles with clearly defined technical requirements tied to a specific degree field are better positioned for approval.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored support engineer jobs in Delaware?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
