Which companies sponsor visas for communications professionals in Florida?
Large media and entertainment companies with Florida operations are among the most active sponsors for communications roles. NBCUniversal and Telemundo maintain substantial teams in Miami, while Comcast operates across multiple Florida markets. Hospitality and tourism giants like Disney and Universal Studios also sponsor communications staff. Large healthcare systems, including AdventHealth and HCA Florida, hire communications and public relations professionals and have sponsored H-1B workers.
Which visa types are most common for communications roles in Florida?
The H-1B is the most common visa for communications professionals in Florida, covering roles like public relations specialist, corporate communications manager, and media relations director when the position requires a relevant bachelor's degree. TN visas are available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying communications roles. O-1A visas are an option for professionals with demonstrated extraordinary achievement in journalism, broadcasting, or public affairs.
Which cities in Florida have the most communications sponsorship jobs?
Miami leads the state for communications sponsorship jobs, driven by its bilingual media industry, international corporate headquarters, and proximity to Latin American markets. Orlando follows closely due to its tourism and entertainment sector, including major theme park operators with large communications departments. Tampa has a growing corporate and healthcare communications hub. Fort Lauderdale and Jacksonville also see demand from regional media outlets and professional services firms.
How to find communications visa sponsorship jobs in Florida?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to browse communications roles in Florida without sorting through positions that don't offer sponsorship. You can narrow results by city, role type, and visa category to focus on employers actively hiring in public relations, media, or corporate communications. Searching Migrate Mate by Florida location gives you a current view of which employers are actively posting sponsored roles.
Are there any Florida-specific considerations for communications visa sponsorship?
Florida's bilingual media market means communications professionals with Spanish-language proficiency are in higher demand than in most other states, particularly in Miami-Dade County. Florida also has several universities with strong journalism and communications programs, including the University of Florida and University of Miami, which creates active OPT pipelines into local employers. Prevailing wage requirements for H-1B roles in Miami are generally higher than in smaller Florida markets like Tallahassee or Gainesville.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored communications jobs in Florida?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
