Which companies sponsor visas for controls technicians in Florida?
Florida's largest visa sponsors for controls technician roles include Lockheed Martin, Raytheon Technologies, Honeywell, Siemens Energy, and L3Harris Technologies. These companies operate major facilities across Orlando, the Space Coast, and Tampa Bay and have consistent histories of H-1B and other work visa filings for technical roles, which is verifiable through Department of Labor LCA disclosure data.
Which visa types are most common for controls technician roles in Florida?
The H-1B is the most common visa for controls technicians in Florida, provided the role requires at least a bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering or technical discipline. Candidates with Canadian or Mexican citizenship may qualify for the TN visa under the USMCA. Some roles in defense and aerospace may also support EB-2 or EB-3 immigrant visa petitions for longer-term sponsorship.
Which cities in Florida have the most controls technician sponsorship jobs?
Orlando leads Florida for controls technician sponsorship activity, driven by its aerospace, defense simulation, and theme park automation industries. The Space Coast, particularly Melbourne and Titusville near Kennedy Space Center, is a secondary hub. Tampa and Jacksonville also have active hiring, supported by manufacturing, utilities, and naval infrastructure in those metro areas.
How to find controls technician visa sponsorship jobs in Florida?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates searching for visa sponsorship roles. You can filter by state and job category to surface controls technician openings in Florida where employers have a documented history of sponsoring work visas. This saves significant time compared to manually screening postings that do not offer sponsorship, which is the norm for this role type.
Are there any Florida-specific considerations for controls technician sponsorship candidates?
Florida's defense and aerospace employers often require security clearances, which can complicate or delay sponsorship for foreign nationals who are not yet permanent residents. The state has no income tax, which affects net compensation comparisons. University programs at the University of Florida and University of Central Florida produce engineering graduates who sometimes transition into sponsored controls technician roles through campus recruiting pipelines.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored controls technician jobs in Florida?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
