Which companies in Florida sponsor visas for cybersecurity engineers?
Defense and aerospace contractors are among the most active sponsors in Florida, including Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, and L3Harris Technologies, all of which have significant operations in the Tampa Bay and Space Coast areas. Financial services firms like Raymond James and Fidelity National Information Services (FIS) in Jacksonville also file H-1B petitions for cybersecurity roles. Large healthcare systems and consulting firms round out sponsorship activity across the state.
Which visa types are most common for cybersecurity engineer roles in Florida?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for cybersecurity engineers in Florida, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, information security, or a related field. Some candidates enter on OPT or STEM OPT before transitioning to H-1B sponsorship. TN visa eligibility may apply for Canadian and Mexican nationals whose credentials meet the relevant USMCA computer systems analyst criteria.
Which cities in Florida have the most cybersecurity engineer sponsorship jobs?
Tampa is Florida's most active market for sponsored cybersecurity engineer roles, driven by U.S. Central Command, U.S. Special Operations Command, and a dense cluster of defense contractors at MacDill Air Force Base. Orlando follows closely, with significant activity from defense technology firms and simulation companies. Miami's growing fintech and financial services sector generates demand in the south, while Jacksonville sees consistent hiring from financial institutions and insurance companies.
How to find cybersecurity engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Florida?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters cybersecurity engineer roles in Florida by visa sponsorship history, so you're not sifting through postings that won't consider sponsored candidates. Because Florida's defense contractor jobs often require security clearances, pay close attention to clearance requirements in each posting before applying. Migrate Mate lets you browse current openings and identify which Florida employers are actively filing H-1B petitions for this role.
Are there state-specific factors cybersecurity engineers should know before targeting Florida jobs?
A significant portion of Florida's cybersecurity roles sit within the defense industrial base, meaning many positions require U.S. security clearances that are only available to U.S. citizens or permanent residents. International candidates without clearance eligibility will find the strongest opportunities in financial services, healthcare IT, and commercial technology firms. Florida's public universities, including the University of Florida and University of Central Florida, have active pipelines that connect graduate students on STEM OPT with local employers open to sponsorship.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored cybersecurity engineer jobs in Florida?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
