A Snapshot of Your Day
Imagine starting your day by diving into the core of next‑generation gas turbine innovation. You collaborate closely with colleagues to design and refine damage‑tolerant methodologies that ensure the reliability of massive turbine systems. Your work moves fluidly between developing mechanical integrity software, automating engineering workflows, and evaluating real component behavior under demanding conditions like fatigue, fracture, and creep. In between analytical deep dives, you prepare clear technical documents and presentations that help guide design decisions and keep projects on track in terms of time, cost, and quality. Every day, you contribute to making complex turbine components safer, more efficient, and more resilient.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Develop design methods and software supporting damage‑tolerant design for large gas turbine systems
- Apply mechanical integrity concepts—including fatigue, fracture mechanics, creep, and uncertainty analysis—to evaluate turbine components
- Plan, program, and automate engineering workflows related to mechanical integrity methods and technologies
- Assess component behavior across different failure mechanisms, such as LCF/TMF, HCF, fracture, and creep
- Support design projects by preparing engineering documents and presentations that communicate technical results
- Collaborate with teams and interface with manufacturing‑related processes, leveraging familiarity with manufacturing and quality assurance where applicable
What You Bring
- Master's degree in mechanical engineering, aeronautical engineering, aerospace engineering or related field
- Advance knowledge and strong background in mechanical integrity, including fatigue and fracture mechanics
- 3+ years of experience in gas turbine industry or turbomachinery applications
- Long-standing, in-depth knowledge of finite element analysis (FEA) (Ansys, Abaqus, or similar software)
- Technical tool proficiency, including CAD systems (e.g., NX), programming (Python, C++, Linux), and exposure to HPC/cloud simulation environments (Azure, AWS)
- Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills, with familiarity in manufacturing support and supplier data exchange
- Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.

Which companies sponsor visas for data science engineers in Florida?
Florida-based employers with consistent H-1B sponsorship records for data science engineers include Chewy, UKG (Ultimate Kronos Group), AdventHealth, Citrix, and Modernizing Medicine. Defense and aerospace contractors near Orlando, such as Lockheed Martin and L3Harris, also sponsor data science engineering roles. Financial services firms concentrated in Miami, including Carnival Corporation and various fintech startups, contribute additional sponsorship activity in the state.
Which visa types are most common for data science engineer roles in Florida?
The H-1B is the most common visa for data science engineers in Florida, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, statistics, or a related field. Candidates with advanced degrees may also pursue the EB-2 NIW immigrant visa if their work has national importance. Canadians and Mexicans may qualify for the TN visa under the mathematician or systems analyst category, depending on the specific role.
Which cities in Florida have the most data science engineer sponsorship jobs?
Miami leads in sponsorship volume for data science engineers, driven by its fintech, e-commerce, and healthcare technology sectors. Tampa follows, with strong demand from healthcare analytics companies and financial services firms concentrated in the region. Orlando is a meaningful third hub, particularly for defense, simulation, and travel-tech employers. Smaller but growing pockets of activity exist in Jacksonville, where logistics and insurance companies have expanded their data teams.
How to find data science engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Florida?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship and lets you filter data science engineer roles by state, including Florida. Because not all employers advertise sponsorship availability upfront, Migrate Mate focuses on companies with documented sponsorship histories, which saves time when targeting Florida-based roles in sectors like healthcare tech, fintech, and defense contracting.
Are there state-specific factors that affect visa sponsorship for data science engineers in Florida?
Florida has no state income tax, which can make employer compensation packages more competitive and supports hiring of international talent. The state's university system, including the University of Florida and University of Miami, produces a notable pipeline of OPT-eligible data science graduates that many Florida employers are accustomed to sponsoring through H-1B. Florida's concentration of healthcare, defense, and fintech industries also means prevailing wage determinations frequently align with data science engineering skill levels, making sponsorship feasible for employers in those sectors.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored data science engineer jobs in Florida?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
