Which companies sponsor visas for mechanics in Florida?
Florida's largest mechanic visa sponsors tend to be aviation maintenance organizations, including airlines with MRO (maintenance, repair, and overhaul) operations at Miami International and Orlando airports, defense contractors such as Lockheed Martin and L3Harris, and marine equipment manufacturers along the Gulf and Atlantic coasts. Large automotive dealer groups and fleet maintenance operations have also filed Labor Condition Applications for mechanic roles, particularly for experienced diesel and heavy equipment technicians.
Which visa types are most common for mechanic roles in Florida?
The H-2B visa is one route employers use for temporary mechanic positions when they can document a shortage of available U.S. workers, though it carries a seasonal cap. Aviation mechanics with specialized certifications may qualify for H-1B sponsorship if the role meets specialty occupation standards. Mechanics with extraordinary ability in their field can explore the O-1 category. Canadians and Mexicans may be eligible for TN status under specific mechanic-related USMCA classifications.
Which cities in Florida have the most mechanic sponsorship jobs?
Miami leads due to its major international airport, large cruise and marine industry, and concentration of MRO facilities. Orlando follows because of aerospace activity near Kennedy Space Center and a strong automotive services market driven by tourism-related fleet demand. Tampa and Jacksonville also generate mechanic sponsorship openings, particularly in heavy equipment, trucking logistics, and military-adjacent maintenance operations at nearby military installations.
How to find mechanic visa sponsorship jobs in Florida?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates seeking visa-sponsored mechanic jobs in Florida, filtering listings to employers who have demonstrated willingness to sponsor. Rather than sorting through thousands of unqualified postings, you can search directly for mechanic roles in cities like Miami, Orlando, or Tampa and see which employers have active sponsorship openings. Creating a profile also helps you track new listings as Florida's aviation and marine sectors hire year-round.
Are there state-specific considerations for mechanics seeking visa sponsorship in Florida?
Florida does not require a state-issued mechanic license for most automotive roles, but Federal Aviation Administration Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification is mandatory for aviation mechanic positions, and employers typically require it before initiating sponsorship. Prevailing wage requirements under the H-1B and H-2B programs still apply, meaning employers must document that sponsored mechanics are paid at the appropriate Department of Labor wage level for the specific occupation and region within Florida.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored mechanic jobs in Florida?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
