Which companies sponsor visas for product software engineers in Florida?
Florida has a mix of large employers and high-growth companies that sponsor product software engineers. UKG (formerly Ultimate Kronos Group) in Weston, Chewy in Dania Beach, and Citrix in Fort Lauderdale have active engineering teams with sponsorship histories. In Miami, fintech firms like Kaseya and hospitality-tech companies have also filed H-1B visa petitions for software engineering roles. Defense contractors around Orlando, including Lockheed Martin and L3Harris, hire product-focused engineers and have sponsored work visas.
Which visa types are most common for product software engineer roles in Florida?
The H-1B is the most common visa for product software engineers in Florida, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, or a related field. Candidates from Australia may qualify for the E-3 visa. Canadians and Mexicans may use the TN visa under the USMCA. Those with extraordinary ability may pursue the O-1 visa. Each pathway has distinct employer obligations and timelines.
Which cities in Florida have the most product software engineer sponsorship jobs?
Miami leads Florida for product software engineer sponsorship activity, driven by its fintech sector and proximity to Latin American markets that attract internationally minded employers. The Fort Lauderdale and Boca Raton corridor hosts established tech companies like UKG and Citrix. Tampa is growing quickly with SaaS and healthtech employers expanding engineering teams. Orlando has a smaller but steady demand through simulation, defense, and theme park technology companies like Walt Disney World and EA's local studios.
How to find product software engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Florida?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates and filters product software engineer roles in Florida by verified sponsorship willingness, so you are not sifting through listings that won't support a visa. The platform covers employers across Miami, Tampa, Orlando, and Fort Lauderdale. Searching by role and state on Migrate Mate surfaces companies with H-1B, E-3 visa, and TN visa sponsorship histories, saving significant research time compared to general job searches.
Are there any Florida-specific considerations for product software engineers seeking sponsorship?
Florida has no state income tax, which can affect how employers structure compensation packages relative to prevailing wage requirements under the H-1B program. The state's engineering talent pipeline draws from institutions like the University of Florida, University of Miami, and Florida International University, meaning some employers are already accustomed to sponsoring graduates. Florida's tech ecosystem is less concentrated than Silicon Valley, so sponsorship rates vary significantly by city and industry vertical, with Miami and Fort Lauderdale showing the strongest activity.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored product software engineer jobs in Florida?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
