Which companies in Florida sponsor visas for professional services engineers?
Enterprise technology companies and defense contractors are the most active sponsors in Florida. Citrix (Fort Lauderdale), Chewy (Dania Beach), Tech Data (Clearwater), and IBM (multiple Florida offices) have sponsorship histories for technical customer-facing roles. Large defense and aerospace employers like Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman also hire professional services engineers and have established visa sponsorship programs, particularly for systems integration roles.
Which visa types are most common for professional services engineer roles in Florida?
The H-1B is the most common visa for professional services engineer positions in Florida, as the role typically requires a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, satisfying the specialty occupation requirement. Candidates already holding L-1B status through multinational employers occasionally transfer into PSE roles. Australian citizens may qualify for the E-3 visa, which has no lottery and processes faster than the H-1B.
Which cities in Florida have the most professional services engineer sponsorship jobs?
Miami leads for PSE roles tied to enterprise software and cloud vendors, benefiting from its position as a Latin American business hub. Orlando has strong demand from hospitality technology and simulation companies. Tampa and the broader Tampa Bay area host cybersecurity firms and financial technology employers. Fort Lauderdale, home to Citrix, has historically been a meaningful concentration point for this specific role.
How to find professional services engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Florida?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. You can filter by role and state to see professional services engineer positions in Florida where employers have indicated visa sponsorship availability. Because PSE roles often require pre-sales or post-sales technical experience, it helps to target companies with existing H-1B filing histories in Florida, which Migrate Mate surfaces directly rather than requiring you to cross-reference government disclosure data manually.
Are there any Florida-specific considerations for professional services engineers pursuing visa sponsorship?
Florida has no state income tax, which affects prevailing wage comparisons since the Department of Labor's wage determinations are based on gross compensation. The state's heavy concentration of defense contractors means some PSE roles require U.S. citizenship or clearance eligibility, which disqualifies visa applicants. University pipelines from the University of Florida and University of Central Florida feed technical talent into Orlando and Gainesville, making those markets moderately competitive for sponsored roles.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored professional services engineer jobs in Florida?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
