Which companies sponsor visas for professional services engineers in North Carolina?
Cisco, IBM, Red Hat, and Lenovo all have significant North Carolina operations and documented H-1B visa sponsorship histories for technical roles. The Research Triangle Park area also hosts enterprise software companies and cloud platform vendors that routinely sponsor professional services engineers. Reviewing Labor Condition Application disclosure data from the Department of Labor shows consistent filings for this role type from employers in the Raleigh-Durham corridor.
Which visa types are most common for professional services engineer roles in North Carolina?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for professional services engineers in North Carolina, given that the role typically requires a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field, which satisfies the specialty occupation standard. Candidates already in the U.S. on F-1 OPT or STEM OPT may work in this role during their authorized period while pursuing employer-sponsored H-1B petitions. L-1B visas are another pathway for intracompany transfers with specialized knowledge.
Which cities in North Carolina have the most professional services engineer sponsorship jobs?
Raleigh and Durham account for the largest share of professional services engineer openings in the state, driven by the concentration of technology employers in and around Research Triangle Park. Charlotte is the second major hub, particularly for enterprise software and financial technology companies with professional services functions. Cary and Morrisville also host several midsize tech employers with active hiring for client-facing engineering roles.
How to find professional services engineer visa sponsorship jobs in North Carolina?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for visa sponsorship, making it straightforward to browse professional services engineer openings in North Carolina without sorting through postings that do not offer sponsorship. You can search by role and state to surface employers in the Raleigh, Durham, and Charlotte areas that have active sponsorship programs. This saves significant time compared to manually cross-referencing job postings against historical LCA filing data.
Are there state-specific considerations for professional services engineers seeking sponsorship in North Carolina?
North Carolina's Research Triangle Park ecosystem creates a pipeline between Duke University, UNC Chapel Hill, and NC State University that feeds directly into professional services engineering roles at local tech employers. Employers here are generally experienced with H-1B sponsorship processes due to the region's long history of international tech talent recruitment. The prevailing wage requirement for H-1B petitions applies based on the specific worksite location within North Carolina, so Raleigh-Durham and Charlotte may reflect different wage levels for the same role title.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored professional services engineer jobs in North Carolina?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
