Which companies in Ohio sponsor visas for professional services engineers?
Technology and enterprise software companies are the most active sponsors for professional services engineers in Ohio. Oracle has a notable presence in Columbus, while NCR Voyix, Hyland Software, and large financial technology firms in Cleveland and Cincinnati have sponsored H-1B petitions for this role. Consulting firms serving Ohio's manufacturing and healthcare sectors also appear in Department of Labor disclosure data as sponsors.
Which visa types are most common for professional services engineer roles in Ohio?
The H-1B is the most common visa for professional services engineers in Ohio, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field. Candidates already holding L-1B intracompany transferee status or those on OPT through Ohio universities are also well-represented in this role category across Ohio employers.
Which cities in Ohio have the most professional services engineer sponsorship jobs?
Columbus leads Ohio for professional services engineer sponsorship activity, driven by its concentration of enterprise software, insurance technology, and financial services employers. Cleveland is a secondary hub with strength in manufacturing technology and healthcare IT. Cincinnati rounds out the top three, particularly for candidates targeting large enterprise and consumer goods technology companies with regional headquarters there.
How to find professional services engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Ohio?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to search for professional services engineer roles in Ohio without sorting through positions that do not offer sponsorship. You can filter by state and role type to surface active openings from Ohio-based employers who have a documented history of sponsoring international candidates in technical client-facing positions.
Are there any Ohio-specific considerations for professional services engineers pursuing visa sponsorship?
Ohio's prevailing wage requirements for H-1B petitions are set at the metropolitan area level, so wages benchmarked in Columbus differ from those in Cleveland or Cincinnati. Ohio State University, Case Western Reserve, and the University of Cincinnati produce significant pipelines of international STEM graduates, meaning employers in those metro areas are generally familiar with OPT and H-1B sponsorship processes for technical roles like professional services engineering.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored professional services engineer jobs in Ohio?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
