INTRODUCTION
Pendo's Professional Services team is part of the broader Strategy & Transformation organization. The team helps customers transform how they operate, not just how they use Pendo, through technical and strategic consulting. This work spans complex technical engagements, including system migrations, integrations, and data work, as well as advisory support that helps customers evolve their processes, teams, and ways of working.
As a Sr. Professional Services Engineer Consultant, you will own the design and delivery of complex technical engagements. You will work at the intersection of product, data, and engineering, extending Pendo's capabilities through custom integrations, data pipelines, APIs, and technical solutions that connect Pendo to customers' broader ecosystems. You will partner with consultants and Customer Engineers to deliver outcome-driven engagements that accelerate time to value and enable long-term customer success.
This role is based in Raleigh, San Francisco or remote.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
-
Engagement design and scoping: Partner with Account Directors and Customer Engineers to qualify Professional Services opportunities and distinguish transformation gaps from tooling gaps. Lead scoping conversations with customer stakeholders, define the problem, validate appetite, design engagement structures, and author Statements of Work that are commercially sound and delivery-ready.
-
Custom integrations and data solutions: Design and build technical solutions that extend Pendo's capabilities and integrate with customer systems. Write production-quality code, build APIs, design data pipelines, and implement ETL processes across data warehouses, analytics platforms, BI tools, and emerging AI/ML systems.
-
Technical project delivery: Own multiple complex technical projects end-to-end, including data engineering and system integration work. Lead execution, troubleshoot issues, provide technical leadership on escalated engagements, and ensure delivery aligns to customer outcomes, scope, and timeline.
-
Data and architecture consulting: Advise customers on data architecture, integration patterns, and long-term technical strategy. Support instrumentation design for advanced analytics and AI/ML use cases, and guide customers through technical transformations involving data infrastructure and system design.
-
Enablement and reusability: Build reusable code libraries, frameworks, and integration patterns that scale across the Professional Services team. Mentor consultants on data flows, API usage, debugging approaches, and technical problem-solving to raise the overall capability of the organization.
-
Practice impact and field intelligence: Identify patterns across engagements and turn them into reusable playbooks, documentation, and delivery approaches. Share field intelligence with Product and cross-functional teams so customer transformation challenges inform how Pendo supports adoption and long-term value.
WHO YOU ARE
Beyond the qualifications, we hire through a specific lens. These aren't buzzwords; they're the things we'll actually look for in how you talk about your work.
You're a builder, not a maintainer.
You're most energized when there isn't a clear path yet, and you get to define it. You don't wait for direction; you identify gaps, shape solutions, and drive them forward. At Pendo, great Sr. PSE Consultants don't just follow instructions; they operate as strategic advisors, influencing decisions, guiding stakeholders, and elevating how we work.
You're AI-curious - genuinely.
You're not using AI tools occasionally. You're rewiring how you work around them. You're faster, sharper, and more prolific because of it, and you bring that energy to everything — how you approach your work, how you prep, how you communicate, how you think. We want someone who sees AI as a multiplier, not a shortcut.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 7+ years of experience in a customer-facing technical role within B2B SaaS, with hands-on experience writing custom code and building integrations.
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript, Python, or Node.js, with the ability to write production-quality backend code.
- Deep experience with APIs, data pipelines, integration patterns, ETL processes, and data modeling.
- SQL proficiency and strong data modeling expertise.
- Experience working with REST APIs, webhooks, and event-driven architectures.
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex data concepts into business value for both technical and business stakeholders.
- Experience leading technical transformation initiatives and data infrastructure projects.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
- Application development experience with Node.js, Python, or a related language or framework.
- Experience with the modern data stack, such as Segment, Snowflake, BigQuery, dbt, or Fivetran.
- AI/ML integration experience, including feature engineering and MCP implementations.
- Background in data engineering, integration consulting, or technical services focused on custom development.

Search Professional Services Engineer Jobs in CaliforniaProfessional Services Engineer Jobs in California: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies sponsor visas for professional services engineers in California?
Enterprise software and cloud infrastructure companies are the most consistent sponsors. Salesforce, Cisco, ServiceNow, Palo Alto Networks, Nutanix, and Splunk have all filed H-1B petitions for professional services engineer roles in California. Larger organizations with established legal and HR infrastructure tend to sponsor more frequently than early-stage startups, which often lack the resources to navigate the sponsorship process.
Which visa types are most common for professional services engineer roles in California?
The H-1B is by far the most common visa for professional services engineers in California, as the role typically meets the specialty occupation requirement through a computer science, engineering, or information systems degree. TN visas are an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals if the job duties align with qualifying categories. Australians may be eligible for the E-3 visa. L-1 visa transfers are also used when candidates are already employed by a multinational company abroad.
Which cities in California have the most professional services engineer sponsorship jobs?
The San Francisco Bay Area, including San Jose and San Francisco proper, accounts for the largest concentration of professional services engineer sponsorship jobs in California, driven by the region's density of enterprise software headquarters. Los Angeles and San Diego have a smaller but growing presence, particularly in cybersecurity and cloud services. Silicon Valley cities like Santa Clara, Sunnyvale, and Mountain View are also consistent hiring hubs for this role.
How to find professional services engineer visa sponsorship jobs in California?
Migrate Mate is specifically built for international candidates looking for visa sponsorship roles, including professional services engineer positions in California. You can filter by state and role type to surface employers who have a documented history of sponsoring work visas for this function. Because sponsorship willingness varies significantly by company size and HR capacity, using a platform designed around sponsorship data is more efficient than general job searches.
Are there any California-specific considerations for professional services engineers seeking visa sponsorship?
California's Department of Industrial Relations enforces its own wage regulations that can interact with federal prevailing wage requirements under the H-1B program, meaning employers must meet whichever standard is higher. The state's concentration of large enterprise software companies also means H-1B petitions for this role often come from employers with cap-exempt or high-volume filing status, which can affect timing. Candidates with backgrounds from UC Berkeley, UCLA, or Stanford often find existing hiring pipelines into sponsoring employers in this state.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored professional services engineer jobs in California?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
