Which companies sponsor visas for technicians in Florida?
Florida's largest technician visa sponsors tend to be concentrated in aerospace, healthcare, and defense. Companies like Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon Technologies, AdventHealth, and HCA Healthcare have filed Labor Condition Applications for technician roles in Florida. Semiconductor and electronics manufacturers in the Tampa Bay and Orlando corridors also sponsor regularly, though sponsorship availability varies by employer and role at any given time.
Which visa types are most common for technician roles in Florida?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa category for technicians whose roles require a bachelor's degree in a specific field, such as biomedical equipment technicians or avionics technicians. Technician roles that do not require a specialty-level degree may be sponsored under the H-2B visa or through employment-based green card pathways like EB-3. Canadian and Mexican nationals in certain technical occupations may qualify for the TN visa under USMCA without needing to enter the H-1B lottery.
Which cities in Florida have the most technician sponsorship jobs?
Orlando and the surrounding Space Coast region lead Florida in technician sponsorship, driven by aerospace and defense contractors clustered near Kennedy Space Center and major defense installations. Tampa is a strong second, with healthcare systems and manufacturing firms regularly hiring technicians. Miami rounds out the top three, particularly for medical device, biomedical, and IT technician roles tied to its international business and healthcare sectors.
How to find technician visa sponsorship jobs in Florida?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship, so you can filter technician roles in Florida without sifting through listings that do not sponsor. Because technician sponsorship in Florida is concentrated in specific industries like aerospace, healthcare, and manufacturing, filtering by industry alongside location on Migrate Mate helps narrow results to employers with demonstrated sponsorship histories rather than applying broadly.
Are there any Florida-specific considerations for technicians pursuing visa sponsorship?
Florida has no state income tax, which affects how employers and candidates approach compensation discussions, though federal prevailing wage requirements under the H-1B still apply. The state's aerospace and defense sector requires security clearances for many technician roles, which can complicate sponsorship for foreign nationals. Florida's university system, including the University of Florida and Florida International University, produces engineering and technical graduates who sometimes transition from OPT directly into sponsored positions with Florida employers.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored technician jobs in Florida?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
