Which companies sponsor visas for construction engineers in Georgia?
Large engineering and construction firms with established Georgia operations are the most consistent sponsors. Jacobs Engineering, Skanska USA, Brasfield & Gorrie, and Balfour Beatty have all filed H-1B petitions for construction-related roles. Large general contractors working on Georgia Department of Transportation projects and Atlanta transit expansion contracts also appear regularly in Department of Labor disclosure data as sponsors.
Which visa types are most common for construction engineer roles in Georgia?
The H-1B is the most common visa for construction engineers in Georgia, provided the role requires at minimum a bachelor's degree in civil, structural, or construction engineering. The O-1A is an option for engineers with exceptional credentials, published research, or major project recognition. Canadians and Mexicans may qualify for TN status under the engineer category, which bypasses the H-1B lottery entirely.
How to find construction engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Georgia?
Migrate Mate filters construction engineer jobs specifically by visa sponsorship willingness, so you're not sifting through listings from employers who won't sponsor. For Georgia, search by state and filter to construction engineering roles. Employers who have filed Labor Condition Applications for similar positions in Georgia are generally more experienced with the sponsorship process, and Migrate Mate surfaces those employers prominently.
Which cities in Georgia have the most construction engineer sponsorship jobs?
Atlanta accounts for the large majority of construction engineer sponsorship activity in Georgia, driven by ongoing MARTA expansion, I-285 interchange reconstruction, and large mixed-use developments in Midtown and Buckhead. Savannah is a secondary market with growth tied to port infrastructure and logistics facility construction. Augusta and Columbus see more limited sponsorship activity, primarily tied to federal and military construction contracts.
Are there any Georgia-specific considerations for construction engineers seeking visa sponsorship?
Georgia does not require a state-specific engineering license for construction engineers to begin work, but a Professional Engineer license from the Georgia State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers is often required for project sign-off. Georgia Tech produces a strong pipeline of engineering graduates, meaning employers have local hiring options, so international candidates benefit from demonstrating specialized experience in infrastructure, transportation, or large-scale commercial construction that differentiates their application.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored construction engineer jobs in Georgia?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
