Which companies sponsor visas for construction engineers in North Carolina?
Several large general contractors and engineering firms operating in North Carolina have established histories of H-1B visa sponsorship for construction engineers. Balfour Beatty, Skanska, and Turner Construction have all filed LCAs in the state. Larger firms with dedicated HR and legal infrastructure are generally more equipped to manage the sponsorship process than smaller regional contractors.
Which visa types are most common for construction engineer roles in North Carolina?
The H-1B is the most common visa for construction engineers in North Carolina, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree in civil, structural, or construction engineering. TN visas are available to Canadian and Mexican nationals with the right credentials. Candidates already holding an EB-3 or EB-2 immigrant visa petition may also find employers willing to continue sponsorship through adjustment of status.
Which cities in North Carolina have the most construction engineer sponsorship jobs?
Charlotte and Raleigh account for the largest concentration of construction engineer sponsorship activity in North Carolina. Charlotte's sustained commercial and residential development, along with its infrastructure investment, drives consistent hiring. The Research Triangle area, covering Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill, also generates significant demand tied to campus expansions, data centers, and public works projects.
How to find construction engineer visa sponsorship jobs in North Carolina?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for roles that include visa sponsorship, making it straightforward to search for construction engineer positions in North Carolina without sorting through listings that exclude international candidates. You can filter by state and role type to surface employers actively seeking candidates who need H-1B or other work visa support, saving significant time in the job search process.
Are there any state-specific considerations for construction engineers seeking sponsorship in North Carolina?
North Carolina requires construction engineers on licensed projects to work under or alongside a licensed Professional Engineer. If you hold a PE license from another country, you will generally need to pursue North Carolina licensure through NCBELS, which involves additional steps for internationally trained applicants. Employers sponsoring construction engineers here typically expect candidates to be working toward or already holding relevant credentials, which can influence how roles are structured for visa sponsorship purposes.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored construction engineer jobs in North Carolina?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
