Which companies sponsor visas for controls engineers in Georgia?
Georgia's manufacturing sector includes several employers with a history of sponsoring skilled engineering roles. Companies such as Kia Georgia, Novelis (the aluminum rolling facility in Oswego and Atlanta HQ), Genuine Parts Company, and various automotive suppliers along the I-85 corridor have filed H-1B visa petitions for engineering positions. Large industrial automation integrators operating near Savannah and Atlanta also appear in Department of Labor disclosure data for controls-related roles.
Which visa types are most common for controls engineer roles in Georgia?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for controls engineers in Georgia, provided the role qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, or systems engineering. The O-1A is an option for engineers with demonstrably distinguished records. Canadian and Mexican nationals may qualify for TN visa status under the USMCA's engineering category, which is a faster process than the H-1B and not subject to the annual lottery.
Which cities in Georgia have the most controls engineer sponsorship jobs?
Atlanta and its northern suburbs, including Norcross, Duluth, and Kennesaw, account for the largest share of controls engineer openings in Georgia, given the concentration of manufacturing firms and automation integrators there. West Point and LaGrange see demand tied to Kia Georgia's assembly operations and its supplier network. Savannah is an emerging hub, with port expansion projects and logistics-adjacent manufacturing driving engineering hiring in the region.
How to find controls engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Georgia?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can search controls engineer roles in Georgia without sifting through positions that don't sponsor. The platform is built for international candidates and surfaces openings from employers who have indicated sponsorship willingness. Filtering by state and role category on Migrate Mate is the most direct way to identify active Georgia-based controls engineer opportunities relevant to your visa situation.
Are there any Georgia-specific considerations for controls engineers pursuing visa sponsorship?
Georgia's Quick Start workforce program and Georgia Tech's strong industrial and electrical engineering pipeline mean employers in the state are accustomed to working with internationally trained engineers. Prevailing wage requirements under the H-1B apply statewide, with DOL wage levels determined by the specific metropolitan area, so controls engineer positions in Atlanta's metro will reflect different prevailing wage benchmarks than roles in rural manufacturing corridors. Employers must certify wages through a Labor Condition Application before filing any H-1B petition.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored controls engineer jobs in Georgia?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
