Which companies sponsor visas for HVAC workers in Georgia?
Johnson Controls, Carrier, Trane Technologies, and Comfort Systems USA have operations in Georgia and have historically sponsored work visas for qualified HVAC professionals. Larger mechanical contractors serving Atlanta's commercial construction market, including companies working on data centers and healthcare facilities, are among the more consistent sponsors. Smaller residential HVAC firms rarely offer sponsorship due to the administrative costs involved.
Which visa types are most common for HVAC roles in Georgia?
H-1B visas are most common for HVAC engineers and systems designers with a relevant bachelor's degree, since the role must qualify as a specialty occupation. Skilled tradespeople without a four-year degree face more limited options, though H-2B visas cover seasonal demand in some cases. TN visas apply to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering roles. EB-3 green card sponsorship appears occasionally for experienced technicians at larger employers.
Which cities in Georgia have the most HVAC sponsorship jobs?
Atlanta accounts for the majority of sponsored HVAC positions in Georgia, driven by its commercial construction activity, data center growth, and large hospital systems requiring complex HVAC infrastructure. Savannah is a secondary market with industrial and logistics facility demand near the port. Augusta and Columbus have smaller but active markets tied to healthcare and military installations, which generate steady HVAC maintenance and installation work.
How to find hvac visa sponsorship jobs in Georgia?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers looking for visa-sponsored roles, including HVAC positions in Georgia. You can filter by state and job category to see employers currently hiring and open to sponsorship. This is more targeted than general job searching because listings are screened for sponsorship relevance, saving time for candidates navigating both the job search and visa process simultaneously.
Are there any Georgia-specific considerations for HVAC workers seeking visa sponsorship?
Georgia requires HVAC contractors to hold a state license, and individual technicians often need EPA 608 certification for refrigerant handling. For H-1B petitions, employers must file a Labor Condition Application confirming the offered wage meets the prevailing wage for the specific HVAC role and county. Atlanta's high construction activity means prevailing wages are benchmarked to a competitive regional market, which employers are required to meet regardless of a worker's visa status.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored hvac jobs in Georgia?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
