Salary: $115,000 - $135,000 per year
A bit about us:
We are a design-forward custom residential architecture and planning studio specializing in luxury homes throughout the Mountain West. Our work is highly site-specific and deeply considered, blending architectural vision with construction intelligence. Our team integrates architecture, interiors, engineering coordination, and visualization into a streamlined process that allows clients to fully understand their homes long before construction begins. We value buildable design, clear communication, and long-term relationships — with both clients and collaborators.
Why join us?
This is an opportunity to work on fewer, better projects — not high volume, not speculative, and not production-driven. The firm designs and delivers $10–25MM fully custom homes, where architectural intent, structural logic, and buildability are aligned from day one. You’ll be trusted with real responsibility, exposed to the full lifecycle of a project, and supported by leadership that values clear thinking, strong coordination, and elegant solutions over flash. For the right person, this role offers:
- Meaningful design ownership
- Close collaboration with builders and engineers
- A high level of craft and technical rigor
- A very strong compensation package reflective of experience
- The chance to build a long-term career in Missoula, Montana
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
We are seeking an Architect or Senior Architectural Designer to join our Missoula-based team. 🔹 Key Responsibilities
- Lead and contribute to projects through Schematic Design, Design Development, and Construction Documents
- Develop and maintain high-quality Revit models and drawing sets
- Coordinate architectural intent with structural, civil, and MEP consultants
- Apply strong structural understanding to inform layout, spans, systems, and constructability
- Collaborate closely with builders to ensure designs are practical, efficient, and buildable
- Participate in client presentations and design discussions
- Maintain a high level of technical accuracy and attention to detail
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Advanced proficiency in Revit
- Experience delivering detailed construction document sets
- Strong understanding of structural systems and coordination
- Experience working on custom residential projects

- Comfort working directly with builders and clients
- Familiarity with Mountain West or similar regional construction

- Very strong compensation package, commensurate with experience
- Salary flexibility for top-tier candidates

Search Architect Jobs in IdahoArchitect Jobs in Idaho: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies sponsor visas for architects in Idaho?
Boise-based firms including CSHQA, Hummel Architects, and Cushing Terrell have histories of hiring architecture professionals and have engaged with federal work authorization processes. Larger national firms with Idaho offices, such as Jacobs and HDR, are generally more experienced with H-1B sponsorship than smaller local practices. Sponsorship availability varies by firm size, project pipeline, and current staffing needs.
Which visa types are most common for architect roles in Idaho?
The H-1B is the most common visa for internationally trained architects in Idaho, as architecture meets the specialty occupation standard requiring a professional degree in architecture or a directly related field. Architects with Canadian or Mexican citizenship may qualify for the TN visa, which has no annual cap and is typically faster to obtain. EB-2 and EB-3 immigrant visas are relevant for those pursuing permanent residence through employer sponsorship.
Which cities in Idaho have the most architect sponsorship jobs?
Boise accounts for the large majority of architect job activity in Idaho, driven by sustained population growth, commercial development, and state government projects. Nampa and Meridian, both part of the Treasure Valley metro area, also generate demand as they expand residential and civic infrastructure. Outside the Treasure Valley, opportunities are limited, though resort-adjacent communities like Sun Valley occasionally see architecture work tied to high-end development.
How to find architect visa sponsorship jobs in Idaho?
Migrate Mate aggregates visa sponsorship jobs specifically for international candidates, making it straightforward to filter architect roles in Idaho without sifting through listings from employers unwilling to sponsor. Because sponsorship is a core filter, you avoid wasting time on firms that only hire candidates with existing work authorization. Searching architect roles in Idaho on Migrate Mate surfaces active openings from employers who have indicated willingness to sponsor, saving significant research time.
Are there any Idaho-specific considerations for architects seeking visa sponsorship?
Idaho does not have a state licensure reciprocity arrangement that bypasses the standard NCARB pathway, so internationally trained architects typically need to meet ARE exam requirements and document their education through the Education Evaluation Services for Architects process. Prevailing wage requirements under the H-1B apply based on the Boise or relevant Idaho metropolitan area, which employers must meet regardless of firm size. Idaho's relatively smaller architecture market means fewer firms have established sponsorship infrastructure compared to major coastal metros.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored architect jobs in Idaho?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
