In this role, you will mentor others on solution design and architectural patterns, contribute to technical strategy conversations, and help review and approve the technical aspects of solution designs across the OneApp platform. You'll work hands-on with React, Node.js, and microfrontend architecture, partner with engineering and product teams to ensure new work aligns with our overall technical strategy, champion the effective use of AI productivity tooling, and act as a trusted technical voice across multiple teams, balancing hands-on architectural rigor with clear, audience-appropriate communication.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership
- Mentor others on solution design and employing architectural patterns

- Maintenance plans

- Implementation concerns
- Security
- Ensure that any technical shared services groups that need to sign off on solution design have been engaged at the appropriate time and understand the design completely
- Champion the use of AI productivity tooling and provide leadership on the effective use of these tools within scope of influence
Operational/Troubleshooting
- Proactively determine operational issues and identify gaps in monitoring to ensure customer delight
- Consult with teams on implementation complexities as they relate to other teams' existing or known future work
Communication
- Translate technical details of project work to audiences in a way that is appropriate and relatable to that audience
- Influence project work of multiple teams to ensure alignment with technical strategy
- Champion technologies that will improve our ability to deliver products aligned with our vision and mission
Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering (any discipline), or closely related field of study is preferred
- At least 5 years of experience in the job offered as a Senior Developer, Consultant, Senior Software Engineer, or closely related occupation
- Demonstrated experience with React and Node.js in production environments
- Demonstrated knowledge of microfrontend architecture (e.g., Module Federation) and service/UI composition patterns
- Demonstrated knowledge of DevOps best practices including CI/CD and associated development
- Demonstrated knowledge of cloud technologies
Qualifications
- Strong hands-on proficiency in React and Node.js, with the ability to guide teams on architectural best practices for both
- Deep understanding of microfrontend architecture and experience designing or scaling a shared microfrontend platform (Module Federation or similar)
- Possess a solid grasp of functionality within business segment and cursory knowledge of all products outside of business segment
- Able to balance multiple concurrent projects while delegating tasks at an appropriate level
- With minimal guidance, apply critical thinking skills to drive architecture and solutions
- Able to effectively communicate with those outside of the immediate team to collaborate and coordinate on common concerns
- Actively breaks down silos and fosters a team spirit by referencing successes and failures in collective terms rather than by individual, function, or role
- Able to think through options when faced with challenges that need guidance and present those options to leadership with related pros and cons
- Exhibit appropriate attention to time management, professional conduct, and adherence to corporate policies

Which companies sponsor visas for architects in Tennessee?
Several mid-to-large architecture and engineering firms in Tennessee have sponsored work visas for architects, including Gresham Smith, ESa (Earl Swensson Associates), HKS, and Hastings Architecture. National firms with Tennessee offices, such as Jacobs and Perkins&Will, have also filed H-1B visa petitions for architectural roles. Sponsorship activity tends to be strongest at firms with active healthcare, commercial, or infrastructure portfolios.
Which visa types are most common for architect roles in Tennessee?
The H-1B is the most common visa for architects in Tennessee, as architecture qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a professional bachelor's degree. The O-1A is an option for architects with documented recognition, such as design awards or published work. Architects from Canada or Mexico may pursue the TN visa under the USMCA, which covers engineers and certain technical roles but does not explicitly list architects as a covered profession.
Which cities in Tennessee have the most architect sponsorship jobs?
Nashville is by far the most active market for architect sponsorship in Tennessee, driven by sustained commercial, healthcare, and mixed-use development. Memphis has sponsorship activity concentrated in healthcare and civic projects, with firms like Askew Nixon Ferguson present. Knoxville sees demand tied to university-related construction and regional infrastructure work. Chattanooga has a smaller but growing design community with select firms hiring internationally.
How to find architect visa sponsorship jobs in Tennessee?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find architect visa sponsorship jobs in Tennessee. The platform filters jobs specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can browse Tennessee architect roles without sorting through listings from employers who don't sponsor. Focusing on firms with prior H-1B filing history, particularly those active in healthcare or large commercial development, improves your chances of finding genuine sponsorship opportunities.
Are there any state-specific considerations for architects seeking visa sponsorship in Tennessee?
Tennessee requires architects to be licensed through the Tennessee Board of Architectural and Engineering Examiners to use the title 'architect' and practice independently. International candidates working under H-1B sponsorship can be employed as unlicensed designers or project architects while pursuing licensure. The ARE (Architect Registration Examination) is the standard path, and Tennessee accepts NCARB certification for reciprocal licensure. University pipelines from UT Knoxville and Tennessee Tech also feed local firms with internationally trained graduates who may seek sponsorship.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored architect jobs in Tennessee?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
