Which companies sponsor visas for architects in New Jersey?
Firms with established sponsorship track records in New Jersey include large multidisciplinary practices like Gensler, HOK, and Jacobs, as well as regional architecture and engineering firms serving the state's healthcare, education, and transit sectors. Public agencies and university-affiliated design offices also sponsor architects, particularly for specialized roles in campus planning and infrastructure projects.
Which visa types are most common for architect roles in New Jersey?
The H-1B is the most common visa for architects in New Jersey, as architecture meets the specialty occupation requirement given its bachelor's degree minimum through NAAB-accredited programs. The O-1A is an option for architects with significant awards, publications, or recognized projects. Architects from Australia may qualify for the E-3, and Canadian or Mexican nationals may use the TN visa under the professional category.
Which cities in New Jersey have the most architect sponsorship jobs?
Newark and Jersey City concentrate the highest volume of architecture roles due to their ongoing commercial and residential redevelopment. Princeton sees steady hiring through its university and affiliated research institutions. Parsippany and Iselin host regional offices of national AEC firms that sponsor internationally trained staff, and Atlantic City periodically generates design work tied to hospitality and casino renovation projects.
How to find architect visa sponsorship jobs in New Jersey?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for visa sponsorship, making it straightforward to browse architect roles in New Jersey without sorting through positions that exclude international candidates. You can search by state and role type to see which firms are actively hiring and have a history of sponsoring visas, which is particularly useful for architects navigating H-1B or O-1 pathways.
Are there state-specific considerations for architects seeking sponsorship in New Jersey?
New Jersey requires architects to be licensed through the State Board of Architects, which means international candidates typically need to have their foreign credentials evaluated and meet NCARB experience requirements. The state's proximity to New York City creates a competitive hiring market, but it also means more firms are familiar with sponsorship processes. Prevailing wage compliance under the H-1B applies statewide and is determined by the specific county and job level.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored architect jobs in New Jersey?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
