Which companies sponsor visas for architects in Minnesota?
Several established Minnesota firms have sponsored H-1B visas for architects, including HGA Architects, RSP Architects, Perkins&Will, and Leo A Daly. Larger national firms with Minnesota offices, such as AECOM and Kimley-Horn, also have documented sponsorship histories. Healthcare-focused architecture practices tend to be among the more active sponsors given the sustained healthcare construction pipeline in the Twin Cities region.
Which visa types are most common for architect roles in Minnesota?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for architects in Minnesota, as architecture qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a professional bachelor's degree. Some employers also use the O-1A for architects with distinguished records of recognition. Candidates with a qualifying degree and a U.S.-licensed employer willing to file an H-1B petition are in the strongest position to pursue sponsorship.
Which cities in Minnesota have the most architect sponsorship jobs?
Minneapolis and Saint Paul account for the large majority of architect sponsorship opportunities in Minnesota. Minneapolis in particular hosts the headquarters or major offices of most of the state's prominent architecture firms. Rochester is a secondary market worth watching, driven by the ongoing Destination Medical Center expansion around Mayo Clinic, which has attracted significant architectural and design work.
How to find architect visa sponsorship jobs in Minnesota?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters architect roles in Minnesota by visa sponsorship history, saving you from sorting through listings that will never support a work visa. You can search by role type, location, and firm size to focus on employers with a demonstrated record of sponsoring architects in the Twin Cities and greater Minnesota area.
Are there any state-specific considerations for architects seeking sponsorship in Minnesota?
Minnesota requires architects to hold a license through the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry, which involves passing the Architect Registration Examination. International candidates often begin in intern architect or designer roles while pursuing licensure, and employers sponsoring H-1B visas for these positions must certify they are paying at least the prevailing wage for the role and location as determined by the Department of Labor.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored architect jobs in Minnesota?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
