ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The QA/QC Field Engineer is an integral member of the on-site Quality team, providing essential support throughout the full lifecycle of the construction project. Working closely with site leadership and cross-functional teams, this role is responsible for managing day-to-day quality control activities on site, from preconstruction document review through to construction, commissioning, and punch list closure. The QA/QC Field Engineer is on the front line in identifying, preventing, and resolving technical issues across multiple scopes in a complex, mission-critical environment, collaborating directly with design professionals, clients, trade contractors, and craftspeople to maintain the highest standards of quality and compliance.
- Schedule and coordinate inspectors, trade contractors, and associated personnel to support efficient quality control workflows across the project.
- Perform on-site inspections across assigned scopes throughout all phases of the project including construction, commissioning, and punch list.
- Attend and contribute to QA/QC meetings and Quality Team meetings, providing detailed updates on inspection findings and open issues.
- Ensure all trade contractors are operating in accordance with their approved QA/QC plans and installing work in compliance with project documents, applicable codes and standards, and best work practices.
- Perform on-site inspections of Owner Furnished Equipment as required.
- Interpret and verify installations for compliance with local authority permitting, applicable codes, and site-specific specifications.
- Collaborate closely with clients, architects, engineers, consultants, and subcontractors to address complex coordination issues and bring all quality issues to closure.
- Provide clear and timely communication across all channels – verbal, written, and electronic – to keep all stakeholders informed of quality status and outstanding items.
- Any other duties or responsibilities that may be assigned to you in your role.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 4 years’ experience in a construction QA/QC role.
- Demonstrated experience conducting on-site inspections and managing quality control processes across construction phases.
- Experience reviewing and interpreting construction documents, specifications, and applicable codes and standards.
- Strong commitment to quality compliance with OSHA standards and site-specific safety requirements.
- Ability to work closely and collaboratively with trade and craft personnel in a field environment, maintaining professionalism and a cooperative attitude under pressure.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients, engineers, equipment manufacturers, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Advanced visual observation and interpretation skills, with a keen eye for identifying installation deficiencies and non-conformances.
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent work activities in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
- Strong working knowledge of field management software such as BIM360, Procore, or equivalent platforms.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam.
- Ability to remain calm and focused in high-pressure situations.
EDUCATION / LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or Structural Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline preferred. Proof of education, licenses, and certifications will be required where applicable.
