Which companies sponsor visas for software quality assurance roles in Idaho?
Micron Technology in Boise is one of Idaho's most active visa sponsors across engineering disciplines, including software quality assurance. Other employers with Idaho engineering operations, such as Clearwater Analytics and HP Inc., have sponsored QA professionals in the past. Smaller software firms in the Boise area occasionally sponsor as well, though at lower frequency than large technology employers.
Which visa types are most common for software quality assurance roles in Idaho?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for software quality assurance professionals in Idaho, as QA roles tied to software systems generally qualify as specialty occupations requiring a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field. Candidates with Canadian or Mexican citizenship may qualify for TN status under the USMCA. Australians with relevant degrees can explore the E-3 visa as an alternative.
Which cities in Idaho have the most software quality assurance sponsorship jobs?
Boise accounts for the large majority of software quality assurance sponsorship activity in Idaho. The broader Treasure Valley, including Meridian and Nampa, has seen technology sector growth as companies relocate or expand from higher-cost West Coast markets. Outside this metro area, meaningful QA sponsorship opportunities are limited, making Boise the practical center of gravity for international candidates targeting Idaho.
How to find software quality assurance visa sponsorship jobs in Idaho?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship and filters software quality assurance roles by state, including Idaho. Rather than sorting through general job boards where sponsorship willingness is unclear, Migrate Mate surfaces employers who have demonstrated sponsorship activity. Searching for QA and software testing roles filtered to Idaho on Migrate Mate is a direct way to identify active opportunities without wading through positions unavailable to visa applicants.
Are there state-specific factors that affect visa sponsorship for QA roles in Idaho?
Idaho employers sponsoring H-1B workers for software quality assurance roles must pay Department of Labor prevailing wages for the specific position and location. Boise's prevailing wages for QA professionals are generally lower than those in Seattle or San Francisco, which can make sponsorship more accessible for smaller Idaho employers. Boise State University also produces local computer science graduates, though the campus has supported international student pipelines that feed into regional technology hiring.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored software quality assurance jobs in Idaho?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
