Which companies sponsor visas for software quality assurance roles in California?
California-based tech employers with consistent H-1B sponsorship records for software quality assurance roles include Apple, Google, Meta, Salesforce, Adobe, Qualcomm, and Intel. Mid-size software companies and enterprise SaaS firms in the Bay Area and Los Angeles also sponsor QA engineers regularly. DOL Labor Condition Application disclosure data shows California consistently ranks among the top states for QA-related H-1B filings.
Which visa types are most common for software quality assurance roles in California?
The H-1B is the most common visa for software quality assurance professionals in California, as QA engineer roles typically qualify as specialty occupations requiring a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field. Candidates with an approved EB-2 or EB-3 immigrant petition may also work under those categories. Australians may qualify for the E-3 visa as an alternative to the H-1B.
Which cities in California have the most software quality assurance sponsorship jobs?
The San Francisco Bay Area, including San Jose, Sunnyvale, Santa Clara, and San Francisco itself, accounts for the largest share of QA sponsorship jobs in California, driven by the concentration of enterprise software and semiconductor companies. Los Angeles is a growing secondary market, particularly in entertainment technology and gaming. San Diego has a strong presence in wireless technology and defense tech, with firms like Qualcomm sponsoring QA roles.
How to find software quality assurance visa sponsorship jobs in California?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates and filters software quality assurance jobs in California by visa sponsorship status, so you're not sorting through listings from employers who don't sponsor. The platform surfaces roles at companies with active sponsorship histories, which is especially useful in a large and competitive market like California. Filtering by city lets you focus on Bay Area, LA, or San Diego opportunities based on your target location.
Are there any California-specific considerations for QA professionals seeking visa sponsorship?
California's prevailing wage requirements under DOL rules apply to H-1B positions, and the Bay Area's high cost of living means prevailing wages for QA roles here are among the highest in the country. California also benefits from a strong university pipeline, with graduates from UC Berkeley, Stanford, and UCLA regularly entering QA roles at sponsoring employers. The state's tech-heavy economy means sponsorship is more normalized here than in most other states, though it remains employer-dependent.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored software quality assurance jobs in California?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
