Which companies sponsor visas for software quality assurance engineers in Minnesota?
Several large Minnesota-based employers have sponsored software quality assurance roles, including UnitedHealth Group, Optum, Target, Best Buy, and Ecolab. Mid-sized software and fintech firms in the Twin Cities metro also appear in Department of Labor LCA disclosure data for QA-related positions. Sponsorship availability varies by team, hiring cycle, and role classification, so it's worth researching current filings before applying.
Which visa types are most common for software quality assurance roles in Minnesota?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa category for software quality assurance engineers in Minnesota, as QA roles typically qualify as specialty occupations requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field. Some candidates also enter through L-1B transfers if moving within a multinational company. OPT and STEM OPT extensions are common for recent graduates already in the U.S.
Which cities in Minnesota have the most software quality assurance sponsorship jobs?
The Minneapolis-St. Paul metro accounts for the large majority of software quality assurance sponsorship activity in Minnesota. Specific hiring clusters appear in Minneapolis, St. Paul, Eden Prairie, Minnetonka, and Bloomington, where major technology and healthcare-tech employers have significant operations. Rochester, home to IBM and Mayo Clinic's technology teams, is a secondary market worth monitoring for QA opportunities.
How to find software quality assurance visa sponsorship jobs in Minnesota?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates looking for visa sponsorship roles, and you can filter directly by state and job category to find software quality assurance openings in Minnesota. Focusing your search on employers with a documented history of H-1B filings in the Twin Cities area improves your chances. Migrate Mate surfaces roles from companies already open to sponsorship, which saves significant time in the application process.
Are there any Minnesota-specific considerations for software quality assurance sponsorship candidates?
Minnesota's concentration of large healthcare-technology employers, including UnitedHealth Group and Optum, means QA roles in the state often require familiarity with regulated software environments and standards like FDA software validation or HIPAA-compliant systems. The University of Minnesota and Minnesota State system produce a pipeline of local engineering graduates, so international candidates benefit from demonstrating specialized domain experience. Prevailing wage requirements apply statewide under the H-1B program and are benchmarked to the Minneapolis-St. Paul metro or the relevant regional area.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored software quality assurance jobs in Minnesota?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
