Which companies sponsor visas for software quality assurance roles in North Carolina?
Companies with a track record of sponsoring visas for QA engineers in North Carolina include Cisco, Red Hat, IBM, and Lenovo, all of which maintain significant operations in Research Triangle Park. Charlotte-based firms in fintech and healthcare technology, such as Bank of America's tech division and Teladoc Health, have also filed H-1B visa petitions for quality assurance positions. Sponsorship activity tends to concentrate at mid-to-large enterprises with established HR infrastructure.
Which visa types are most common for software quality assurance roles in North Carolina?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for software quality assurance engineers in North Carolina, as QA roles typically qualify as specialty occupations requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field. Some candidates also enter through OPT or STEM OPT extensions after graduating from North Carolina universities before transitioning to H-1B sponsorship. Intracompany transferees at multinational firms may use the L-1B for specialized knowledge roles.
How to find software quality assurance visa sponsorship jobs in North Carolina?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters software quality assurance roles in North Carolina by visa sponsorship status, saving you from sifting through listings that don't offer sponsorship. You can browse QA openings across Raleigh, Durham, and Charlotte from employers who have previously sponsored work visas. Creating a profile on Migrate Mate and setting up alerts for North Carolina QA roles is a practical starting point for your search.
Which cities in North Carolina have the most software quality assurance sponsorship jobs?
Raleigh and Durham, situated within Research Triangle Park, account for the largest concentration of QA sponsorship roles in the state, driven by the density of technology and life sciences employers in the area. Charlotte is the second major hub, with QA demand coming from financial services technology teams and healthcare IT companies. Smaller clusters exist in Chapel Hill and Cary, particularly near university research partnerships and established tech campuses.
Are there state-specific factors that affect visa sponsorship for QA engineers in North Carolina?
North Carolina's strong university pipeline, including NC State, UNC Chapel Hill, and Duke, produces a steady flow of STEM graduates who pursue OPT and STEM OPT in QA roles before seeking H-1B sponsorship. Employers in Research Triangle Park are experienced with sponsorship processes, which can make the hiring experience smoother than in states with less established tech sectors. Prevailing wage requirements for QA positions are set at the federal level based on the job location's wage data, so RTP and Charlotte roles will reflect those respective metropolitan area rates.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored software quality assurance jobs in North Carolina?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
