Which companies sponsor visas for software quality assurance roles in Oregon?
Intel is one of the most active H-1B sponsors for software quality assurance roles in Oregon, with significant operations in Hillsboro. Other notable sponsors include Nike, Adidas, and mid-size software firms in the Portland metro area. Staffing and consulting firms that place QA contractors also appear frequently in Department of Labor LCA disclosure data for Oregon-based positions.
Which visa types are most common for software quality assurance roles in Oregon?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for software quality assurance professionals in Oregon, as QA engineer roles typically qualify as specialty occupations requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field. Some candidates also enter through the L-1B intracompany transfer visa when moving within a multinational employer, and recent graduates may work on F-1 OPT or STEM OPT before transitioning to H-1B sponsorship.
Which cities in Oregon have the most software quality assurance sponsorship jobs?
Portland and its western suburbs, particularly Hillsboro and Beaverton, account for the large majority of software quality assurance visa sponsorship activity in Oregon. Intel's Hillsboro campus alone generates a significant share of technology sponsorships in the state. Eugene, home to the University of Oregon, has a smaller but growing tech presence, and Salem sees limited QA hiring relative to the Portland metro.
How to find software quality assurance visa sponsorship jobs in Oregon?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to browse software quality assurance roles in Oregon without sorting through positions that don't sponsor. You can narrow results to Oregon-based employers who have a documented history of sponsoring H-1B and other work visas for QA professionals, saving significant time compared to manually reviewing general job postings.
Are there state-specific factors that affect visa sponsorship for QA engineers in Oregon?
Oregon does not have a state income tax preference or special immigration program that directly affects sponsorship, but the concentration of semiconductor and hardware companies, particularly around Hillsboro, creates strong and consistent QA hiring demand. Employers in this corridor tend to have established immigration infrastructure and HR teams experienced with H-1B filings. Oregon State University and Portland State University also supply a steady pipeline of international graduates seeking QA roles with sponsorship.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored software quality assurance jobs in Oregon?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
