Which companies in Kentucky sponsor visas for software quality assurance roles?
Louisville-based Humana is among the most active sponsors for technology roles in Kentucky, including software quality assurance positions. Tempur Sealy International, Kindred Healthcare, and several regional financial institutions have also filed sponsorships for QA engineers. Defense and manufacturing contractors near Lexington and the greater Louisville metro occasionally sponsor these roles as well, particularly for embedded systems and automated testing work.
Which visa types are most common for software quality assurance jobs in Kentucky?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa category for software quality assurance roles in Kentucky, as QA engineer positions typically qualify as specialty occupations requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field. The TN visa is an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals, provided the role meets the relevant professional criteria. Some employers also support O-1 visa petitions for candidates with demonstrated distinction in their field.
Which cities in Kentucky have the most software quality assurance sponsorship jobs?
Louisville accounts for the largest share of software quality assurance sponsorship activity in Kentucky, driven by its concentration of healthcare technology, logistics, and insurance companies. Lexington is the second most active market, with a tech presence anchored by the University of Kentucky's research partnerships and regional software firms. Frankfort and Northern Kentucky, near the Cincinnati metro, also have pockets of QA hiring tied to government contractors and cross-border employers.
How to find software quality assurance visa sponsorship jobs in Kentucky?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship, making it a practical starting point for software quality assurance roles in Kentucky. You can filter by state and job category to surface QA positions at employers with a documented history of sponsoring work visas. This is more efficient than sorting through general job postings where sponsorship availability is often unlisted or unclear.
Are there state-specific factors that affect visa sponsorship for QA roles in Kentucky?
Kentucky does not have a state-level visa program, so sponsorship follows standard federal processes. However, the University of Kentucky and the University of Louisville produce graduates in computer science and engineering who feed local QA pipelines, meaning some employers in the state are already accustomed to sponsoring OPT and H-1B candidates. Prevailing wage compliance is determined by the Department of Labor based on the Louisville or Lexington metropolitan statistical area for roles in those cities.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored software quality assurance jobs in Kentucky?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
