Which companies sponsor visas for software quality assurance roles in Texas?
Large technology and enterprise employers are among the most consistent visa sponsors for software quality assurance positions in Texas. Dell Technologies in Round Rock, Texas Instruments in Dallas, AT&T in Dallas, and IBM in Austin have established track records of sponsoring H-1B visa petitions for QA engineers. Mid-size SaaS companies and fintech firms in Austin also appear in Department of Labor disclosure data as active sponsors for these roles.
Which visa types are most common for software quality assurance roles in Texas?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for software quality assurance engineers in Texas, as QA roles typically qualify as specialty occupations requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field. Candidates already in the U.S. on F-1 OPT or STEM OPT frequently transition into H-1B sponsorship. Australians may also pursue the E-3 visa, which has no lottery and is processed year-round.
Which cities in Texas have the most software quality assurance sponsorship jobs?
Austin leads Texas for software quality assurance sponsorship activity, driven by a concentrated tech sector with companies like Apple, Oracle, and numerous SaaS startups operating in the area. Dallas-Fort Worth follows closely, with major enterprise technology and telecommunications employers. Houston contributes sponsorship demand through energy technology and healthcare IT companies. San Antonio has a smaller but growing cybersecurity and defense tech presence that includes QA roles.
How to find software quality assurance visa sponsorship jobs in Texas?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for roles where employers are willing to sponsor work visas, making it straightforward to browse software quality assurance positions in Texas without sorting through listings that exclude international candidates. You can narrow results by city, including Austin, Dallas, or Houston, and by visa type. Department of Labor LCA disclosure data can also help confirm which Texas employers have filed for QA roles historically.
Are there any Texas-specific considerations for software quality assurance visa sponsorship?
Texas has no state income tax, which affects prevailing wage benchmarking since total compensation packages are structured differently than in states like California or New York. The Department of Labor sets prevailing wage levels for QA roles by metropolitan area, so wage requirements in Austin differ from those in Dallas or Houston. Several Texas universities, including UT Austin and Texas A&M, produce strong pipelines of engineering graduates that employers also recruit internationally, making competition for sponsored roles competitive in major metros.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored software quality assurance jobs in Texas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
