Which insurance companies in Illinois sponsor F-1 CPT visas?
Several major insurers headquartered or with large operations in Illinois have historically hired F-1 CPT students, including Allstate in Northbrook, Zurich North America in Schaumburg, CNA Financial in Chicago, and Aon, also based in Chicago. These firms regularly bring on CPT students for internships and co-op roles in actuarial, analytics, and underwriting functions, though sponsorship availability varies by team and semester.
Which cities in Illinois have the most insurance F-1 CPT sponsorship jobs?
Chicago is the primary hub, hosting the headquarters or major regional offices of Aon, CNA Financial, Gallagher, and numerous other carriers and brokerages. The northern suburbs, particularly Schaumburg and Northbrook, are also significant, given Zurich North America and Allstate's presence there. Students at Illinois-area universities should consider targeting all three locations when searching for CPT-eligible insurance roles.
What types of insurance roles typically qualify for F-1 CPT sponsorship in Illinois?
Roles most commonly structured as CPT-eligible in the Illinois insurance industry include actuarial intern positions, data analytics internships, underwriting analyst roles, risk management co-ops, and finance or accounting rotations within insurance firms. These positions generally align with STEM or business degree programs, which satisfies the curricular practical training requirement of being directly related to a student's field of study.
How do I find insurance F-1 CPT sponsorship jobs in Illinois?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international students and filters jobs by visa type, including F-1 CPT, and by industry and state. Searching for insurance roles in Illinois on Migrate Mate surfaces employers who have indicated CPT sponsorship willingness, saving you from applying to positions that won't support your visa status. It is one of the most targeted ways to find Illinois-based insurance internships and co-ops that fit your CPT authorization window.
Are there any Illinois-specific considerations for F-1 CPT sponsorship in insurance?
Illinois does not impose state-level restrictions on CPT employment beyond standard federal F-1 regulations, but students should confirm that their specific university's CPT authorization covers the employer's work location, including suburban offices in Schaumburg or Northbrook rather than Chicago proper. Additionally, large Illinois insurers often recruit on structured academic calendars, so aligning your CPT application timeline with fall or spring semester recruiting cycles is important.
