Which education employers in Illinois sponsor H-1B1 Chile visas?
Illinois universities and large school systems are among the most active sponsors. The University of Illinois system, University of Chicago, Northwestern University, DePaul University, and Loyola University Chicago have filed Labor Condition Applications for specialty occupation roles. Chicago Public Schools and several suburban district administrations have also sponsored positions requiring bachelor's-level expertise in education-related fields. Reviewing DOL LCA disclosure data gives the most current picture of which employers are actively filing.
Which Illinois cities have the most education H-1B1 Chile sponsorship jobs?
Chicago concentrates the majority of education H-1B1 Chile sponsorship activity, driven by its dense cluster of research universities, community colleges, and the nation's third-largest K-12 district. Evanston, home to Northwestern University, and Champaign-Urbana, where the University of Illinois flagship campus operates, also generate consistent sponsorship filings. Smaller college towns like DeKalb and Bloomington-Normal see sponsorship tied directly to Northern Illinois University and Illinois State University respectively.
How do I find education H-1B1 Chile sponsorship jobs in Illinois?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa type, so you can search for education roles in Illinois where employers have verified H-1B1 visa Chile LCA filing history. This saves significant time compared to manually cross-referencing DOL disclosure data with job postings. Within Migrate Mate, narrow results by the Education industry tag and Illinois location to surface roles at universities, school districts, and edtech companies that have actively sponsored H-1B1 Chile workers.
What education roles typically qualify for H-1B1 Chile sponsorship in Illinois?
H-1B1 Chile sponsorship requires the position to be a specialty occupation, meaning it normally requires at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field. In education, qualifying roles commonly include curriculum developers, instructional designers, education researchers, academic advisors with specialized subject expertise, ESL program coordinators with linguistics degrees, and data analysts working within school systems. General teaching assistant or paraprofessional positions that lack a specific degree requirement typically do not qualify.
Are there Illinois-specific considerations for H-1B1 Chile sponsorship in education?
Illinois does not impose additional state-level visa sponsorship requirements beyond federal H-1B1 rules. However, education employers in Illinois that receive state or federal funding, including public universities and charter schools, must comply with E-Verify enrollment mandates for new hires. Illinois public universities also operate under collective bargaining agreements that can affect how positions are classified and whether a role's specialty occupation designation is straightforward. Candidates should confirm with each employer how these factors apply to specific openings.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B1 Chile education jobs in Illinois?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
