Which companies sponsor visas for product engineering managers in Illinois?
Several large Illinois employers have consistent H-1B sponsorship histories for engineering leadership roles. In Chicago, companies like Salesforce, Morningstar, Sprout Social, Motorola Solutions, United Airlines, and Tempus regularly file H-1B petitions. Larger financial services firms such as Discover Financial and Northern Trust also sponsor technical managers. Sponsorship patterns vary by year and hiring need, so verifying current activity matters.
Which visa types are most common for product engineering manager roles in Illinois?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for product engineering managers in Illinois, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field. Candidates with Canadian or Mexican citizenship may qualify for TN status. Those with extraordinary achievement in the field sometimes pursue O-1A petitions. L-1A transfers are also an option for managers moving from a foreign affiliated office.
Which cities in Illinois have the most product engineering manager sponsorship jobs?
Chicago accounts for the overwhelming majority of product engineering manager sponsorship jobs in Illinois. The River North, Fulton Market, and downtown Loop neighborhoods concentrate most of the tech employer presence. Naperville and Schaumburg in the western suburbs host corporate tech campuses, including Motorola Solutions. Champaign-Urbana, home to the University of Illinois, produces a notable pipeline of engineering talent and has a smaller but active startup hiring scene.
How to find product engineering manager visa sponsorship jobs in Illinois?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it more targeted than a general job search for product engineering manager roles in Illinois. You can browse active openings from Illinois employers who have indicated sponsorship willingness, saving time you would otherwise spend vetting each company individually. Filtering by state and role together surfaces the most relevant opportunities across Chicago and surrounding areas.
Are there any Illinois-specific considerations for product engineering managers seeking visa sponsorship?
Illinois follows federal prevailing wage requirements, meaning employers sponsoring H-1B petitions for product engineering managers must pay at least the Department of Labor's prevailing wage for the role and location. Chicago's wage levels are among the higher tiers nationally given its cost of living, which can influence whether smaller startups pursue sponsorship. The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign also creates a strong local pipeline, making Illinois engineering talent particularly visible to international candidates already in the U.S. on student visas.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored product engineering manager jobs in Illinois?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
