Which companies sponsor visas for architects in Indiana?
Indianapolis-based firms including CSO Architects, Ratio Design, and Browning Day have histories of hiring internationally trained architects. Larger national firms with Indiana offices, such as HKS and Gensler, also sponsor H-1B visas for architectural roles. Healthcare-focused and higher education project specialists tend to have the most consistent sponsorship activity given Indiana's strong hospital construction and campus development sectors.
Which visa types are most common for architect roles in Indiana?
The H-1B is the most common visa for architects in Indiana, as architecture consistently qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a professional degree. Some internationally trained architects also enter on an O-1A if they hold significant professional recognition or awards. Canadian and Mexican nationals may qualify for TN visa status under the architect category, which does not require an annual lottery.
Which cities in Indiana have the most architect sponsorship jobs?
Indianapolis accounts for the large majority of architect sponsorship opportunities in Indiana, driven by its concentration of design firms, healthcare systems, and state government construction projects. Fort Wayne and Bloomington see more limited activity, though Indiana University's Bloomington campus generates some demand. South Bend's Notre Dame-linked development and ongoing downtown revitalization also produce periodic openings at regional architecture practices.
How to find architect visa sponsorship jobs in Indiana?
Migrate Mate filters architecture job listings specifically to employers that sponsor visas, saving you the time of screening firms individually. For Indiana, you can narrow results to Indianapolis and other cities where sponsorship-active firms are concentrated. Migrate Mate focuses on roles where employers have demonstrated sponsorship willingness, which is especially useful for architects who need H-1B or TN support to begin or continue working in the U.S.
Are there any Indiana-specific factors architects should know about visa sponsorship?
Indiana does not require state licensure before an employer files an H-1B petition, but architects will need to obtain Indiana licensure through NCARB reciprocity or examination to practice independently. The prevailing wage for architecture roles is set by the Department of Labor based on Indiana regional data, and employers must certify they will meet that wage on the Labor Condition Application. Indiana's lower cost of living relative to coastal markets can affect how prevailing wage thresholds compare to actual market offers.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored architect jobs in Indiana?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
