Which companies sponsor visas for control electricians in Indiana?
Large manufacturers and industrial operators are the primary sponsors. Cummins (Columbus), Subaru of Indiana Automotive (Lafayette), Eli Lilly (Indianapolis), and Steel Dynamics have all sponsored skilled trades and electrical roles. Automation-heavy facilities in the pharmaceutical and automotive supply chain sectors tend to have the most active sponsorship history, particularly for candidates with PLC and industrial controls experience.
Which visa types are most common for control electrician roles in Indiana?
The H-1B visa applies when the role qualifies as a specialty occupation, typically requiring a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a closely related field. The EB-3 skilled worker immigrant visa is another pathway employers use for experienced trades professionals. Canadian and Mexican nationals may qualify under the TN visa category, which covers certain engineering-adjacent roles without an annual cap or lottery.
Which cities in Indiana have the most control electrician sponsorship jobs?
Indianapolis leads due to its concentration of pharmaceutical manufacturing, logistics, and industrial facilities. Lafayette sees consistent demand tied to Subaru of Indiana Automotive and its supplier network. Columbus is active because of Cummins' global headquarters and engine manufacturing operations. Terre Haute and Muncie also have industrial employers, though at lower volume than the Indianapolis metro and the I-65 corridor.
How to find control electrician visa sponsorship jobs in Indiana?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can search control electrician roles in Indiana without sorting through positions that don't offer sponsorship. The platform surfaces openings at manufacturers, utilities, and automation integrators across the state. Filtering by Indiana and the control electrician role type on Migrate Mate gives you a focused list of employers actively hiring international candidates.
Are there any Indiana-specific considerations for control electricians seeking visa sponsorship?
Indiana follows federal prevailing wage requirements for H-1B visa sponsorship, with the Department of Labor setting wage levels based on the Indianapolis and regional metro areas separately. Purdue University's engineering programs in West Lafayette produce a pipeline of local talent, so sponsored candidates typically need specialized skills like Siemens or Allen-Bradley PLC expertise, motion control, or experience in pharmaceutical-grade electrical systems to stand out to sponsoring employers.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored control electrician jobs in Indiana?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
