Which companies sponsor visas for electronic engineers in Indiana?
Defense and manufacturing firms are the most active sponsors for electronic engineers in Indiana. Raytheon Intelligence and Space, Rolls-Royce (Indianapolis), Cummins, and Eli Lilly have all filed H-1B visa petitions for engineering roles. Automotive suppliers like Subaru of Indiana Automotive and Stellantis-affiliated operations also sponsor electronic engineers, particularly for embedded systems and controls work tied to their Indiana facilities.
Which visa types are most common for electronic engineer roles in Indiana?
The H-1B is the most common visa for electronic engineers in Indiana, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in electrical or electronic engineering. Candidates with Canadian or Mexican citizenship may qualify for the TN visa under the NAFTA/USMCA engineer category. Some research-focused positions at Purdue University or Indiana University may involve J-1 visa or O-1 visa pathways.
Which cities in Indiana have the most electronic engineer sponsorship jobs?
Indianapolis has the highest concentration of electronic engineer sponsorship opportunities, driven by its aerospace, defense, and pharmaceutical sectors. Fort Wayne is a secondary hub with a strong manufacturing base, including medical device and automotive electronics firms. South Bend and Lafayette also see demand, with Lafayette benefiting from Purdue University's proximity and the industrial corridor along Interstate 65.
How to find electronic engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Indiana?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for roles offering visa sponsorship, so you can search for electronic engineer positions in Indiana without sorting through employers who won't sponsor. The platform focuses on international candidates and surfaces roles from Indiana's aerospace, defense, and manufacturing sectors where sponsorship is confirmed or historically common, saving you significant time in your job search.
Are there any Indiana-specific considerations for electronic engineers seeking visa sponsorship?
Electronic engineers in Indiana working in defense or aerospace may encounter positions requiring security clearances, which are generally available only to U.S. citizens or permanent residents. This limits the sponsorship pool at firms like Raytheon. However, a large portion of Indiana's electronics manufacturing and medical device engineering roles carry no clearance requirement. Purdue University's engineering programs also produce a strong local pipeline, meaning competition for entry-level sponsored roles can be meaningful.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored electronic engineer jobs in Indiana?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
