Which companies sponsor visas for electronic engineers in Pennsylvania?
Defense and aerospace contractors are among the most active sponsors in Pennsylvania, with Lockheed Martin (Moorestown and King of Prussia), Raytheon Intelligence and Space, and Siemens regularly filing H-1B petitions for electronic engineer roles. Medical device and semiconductor companies operating in the Philadelphia suburbs and Lehigh Valley, including those in the Route 202 tech corridor, also have documented sponsorship histories for this role type.
Which visa types are most common for electronic engineer roles in Pennsylvania?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for electronic engineers in Pennsylvania, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at minimum a bachelor's degree in electrical or electronic engineering. Canadian and Mexican citizens may qualify for TN visa status under the engineer category. Candidates with extraordinary recognition in their field may also explore the O-1A, though this requires substantial documented achievements.
Which cities in Pennsylvania have the most electronic engineer sponsorship jobs?
Philadelphia and its surrounding suburbs, particularly King of Prussia, Malvern, and Blue Bell along the Route 202 corridor, account for the largest share of electronic engineer sponsorship activity in Pennsylvania. Pittsburgh is a secondary hub, driven by Carnegie Mellon University spinoffs, defense contractors, and advanced manufacturing firms. The Lehigh Valley, anchored by Allentown and Bethlehem, also has active hiring in industrial electronics and power systems.
How to find electronic engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Pennsylvania?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by sponsorship availability, making it easier to identify Pennsylvania electronic engineer roles where employers are actively willing to sponsor. Rather than sorting through thousands of unverified postings, you can browse by state and role to find positions at defense contractors, semiconductor firms, and engineering consultancies in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and the Lehigh Valley that have sponsorship histories.
Are there state-specific considerations for electronic engineers seeking sponsorship in Pennsylvania?
Pennsylvania's concentration of defense contractors introduces an important consideration: many roles at companies like Lockheed Martin and Raytheon require U.S. security clearances, which are generally not available to non-U.S. citizens or permanent residents. This limits the pool of sponsorship-eligible positions at certain employers. University-affiliated research roles at Penn State, Carnegie Mellon, and Drexel tend to have fewer clearance restrictions and a stronger pipeline for international candidates.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored electronic engineer jobs in Pennsylvania?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
