Which companies sponsor visas for manufacturing associates in Indiana?
Several large manufacturers in Indiana have sponsored work visas for associates, including Subaru of Indiana Automotive in Lafayette, Eli Lilly in Indianapolis, Stellantis operations in Kokomo, and ArcelorMittal in East Chicago. Larger facilities with dedicated HR departments and global parent companies tend to have more established sponsorship processes than smaller regional plants.
Which visa types are most common for manufacturing associate roles in Indiana?
H-1B visas are the most common route for manufacturing associates with a bachelor's degree in engineering, materials science, or a related technical field, since the role must qualify as a specialty occupation. H-2B visas cover temporary non-agricultural workers but are seasonally capped. Candidates with Canadian or Mexican citizenship may also qualify under the TN visa category for certain engineering-related manufacturing roles.
Which cities in Indiana have the most manufacturing associate sponsorship jobs?
Indianapolis leads in volume due to its concentration of pharmaceutical and advanced manufacturing employers. Lafayette and West Lafayette benefit from proximity to Purdue University and Subaru's large production facility. Kokomo has a strong automotive manufacturing base through Stellantis. East Chicago and Gary in northwestern Indiana anchor steel and heavy manufacturing hiring, particularly for candidates with industrial or metallurgical backgrounds.
How to find manufacturing associate visa sponsorship jobs in Indiana?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically to roles where employers have indicated visa sponsorship availability, making it easier to focus on manufacturing associate positions in Indiana without sorting through roles that don't sponsor. You can narrow results by location, covering cities like Indianapolis, Lafayette, or Kokomo, and review which employers have active openings before applying.
Are there any Indiana-specific considerations for manufacturing associate visa sponsorship?
Indiana's manufacturing sector has a strong pipeline from Purdue University and Indiana University, meaning employers are familiar with OPT and STEM OPT extensions for international graduates. Prevailing wage requirements under H-1B rules apply statewide, so employers must pay the Department of Labor-determined wage for the region and occupation. Roles tied to automotive or pharmaceutical production often require specialized technical credentials that strengthen a visa petition.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored manufacturing associate jobs in Indiana?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
