You will be responsible for building and mentoring a high-performing engineering team while spearheading the procurement and commissioning of cutting-edge manufacturing equipment.
The ideal candidate is a technical expert in Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Lean principles, possessing the project management prowess to navigate complex product launches and knowing how to advance the manufacturing design effectively. If you have a proven track record of scaling production environments and a passion for optimizing complex assembly lines, we want to hear from you.
What you'll do:
- Lead and manage the manufacturing engineering team for pack assembly areas.
- Develop, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes for battery module and pack assembly.
- Spearhead the procurement, installation, and commissioning of manufacturing equipment, including developing detailed user requirement specifications (URS) and leading factory and site acceptance testing (FAT/SAT).
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
- Collaborate with design engineering during the product development phase to ensure new products are designed for manufacturability (DFM) and assembly (DFA).
- Lead technical discussions with internal design partners, external suppliers, and integrators.
- Manage all manufacturing engineering phases of a product launch, from early-stage design reviews to line commissioning and production ramp-up.
- Mentor and develop a team of manufacturing engineers.
- Utilize project management software like Jira to track project timelines, tasks, and deliverables.
What you'll bring:
- 7+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, with 1-3 years of experience leading an engineering team.
- Demonstrated experience in manufacturing equipment procurement, setup, and commissioning, including a clear understanding of equipment qualification and validation protocols.
- Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles and their application in a high-volume production environment.
- Demonstrated experience in a process engineering capacity, with a track record of developing and optimizing new manufacturing processes.
- Proven ability to manage the full lifecycle of a manufacturing project, from initial concept to full-scale production.
- Exceptional organizational skills and experience with project management tools, with a preference for Jira.
- A solid technical background with the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with design teams in the early stages of product development.
- Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing engineering.

Which companies sponsor visas for manufacturing associates in West Virginia?
Large multinational manufacturers operating in West Virginia are the most likely sponsors for manufacturing associate roles. Companies like Toyota Motor Manufacturing West Virginia in Buffalo, Eastman Chemical in Martinsburg, and Nucor Steel in various locations have established HR infrastructure for employment-based visa petitions. Smaller regional manufacturers may sponsor less frequently, as visa sponsorship requires dedicated legal and administrative resources.
Which visa types are most common for manufacturing associate roles in West Virginia?
H-1B visas are possible for manufacturing associate roles that require a bachelor's degree in a specific technical field, such as industrial or mechanical engineering. EB-3 immigrant visas are another pathway for skilled or professional workers. Some roles may also qualify under TN visa status for Canadian and Mexican nationals if the position aligns with a USMCA-listed occupation. The qualifying visa type depends heavily on the specific job duties and required credentials.
Which cities in West Virginia have the most manufacturing associate sponsorship jobs?
Charleston, the state capital, and the surrounding Kanawha Valley host a significant concentration of chemical and advanced manufacturing facilities. Huntington in Cabell County has a long industrial history tied to metals and energy production. Parkersburg in Wood County supports chemical and plastics manufacturing. The Eastern Panhandle cities of Martinsburg and Shepherdstown have seen growth in distribution and light manufacturing tied to proximity to the Mid-Atlantic corridor.
How to find manufacturing associate visa sponsorship jobs in West Virginia?
Migrate Mate is designed specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship and filters manufacturing associate roles by state, making it straightforward to browse open positions in West Virginia. Because sponsoring employers are explicitly identified on the platform, you can focus your applications on companies that have already indicated willingness to support work visa petitions, rather than approaching employers cold and asking about sponsorship separately.
Are there state-specific considerations for manufacturing associate visa sponsorship in West Virginia?
West Virginia's manufacturing sector is heavily tied to chemicals, automotive assembly, and steel, which means many associate-level roles require hands-on technical credentials rather than a four-year degree. For H-1B eligibility, the role must qualify as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field. Employers filing H-1B petitions must also submit a Labor Condition Application certifying the offered wage meets Department of Labor prevailing wage standards for the specific occupation and county.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored manufacturing associate jobs in West Virginia?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
