Which companies sponsor visas for compliance roles in Iowa?
Principal Financial Group and Nationwide Insurance in Des Moines are among the more active sponsors for compliance roles, given Iowa's standing as an insurance and financial services hub. Collins Aerospace and John Deere sponsor for regulatory and export compliance positions. Larger healthcare systems including UnityPoint Health and MercyOne have also filed H-1B petitions for compliance-related roles.
Which visa types are most common for compliance roles in Iowa?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for compliance professionals in Iowa, as roles in regulatory affairs, financial compliance, and legal compliance generally qualify as specialty occupations requiring a bachelor's degree in a related field. Candidates with a relevant master's degree may qualify for the H-1B advanced degree exemption. TN visa status is an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying compliance-adjacent roles.
Which cities in Iowa have the most compliance sponsorship jobs?
Des Moines concentrates the largest share of Iowa compliance sponsorship activity, driven by its insurance, financial services, and banking sectors. Cedar Rapids follows, with compliance demand tied to manufacturing, food processing, and aerospace companies. Iowa City and Coralville see some compliance hiring connected to the University of Iowa health system and affiliated research operations.
How to find compliance visa sponsorship jobs in Iowa?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to find compliance roles in Iowa without sifting through positions that don't offer sponsorship. You can search by state and role type to surface openings at Iowa employers who have a documented history of sponsoring international candidates. This is particularly useful for compliance titles, which vary widely in how they're listed across industries.
Are there any state-specific considerations for compliance professionals seeking sponsorship in Iowa?
Iowa's compliance hiring is heavily shaped by its insurance regulatory environment, since Des Moines is home to a high concentration of insurance carriers subject to state and federal oversight. Compliance roles tied to agricultural commodities, food safety, and USDA regulations are also more prevalent here than in most states. International candidates should confirm that their academic credentials align with the specific regulatory framework the employer operates under, as this affects H-1B specialty occupation determinations.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored compliance jobs in Iowa?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
