Which companies sponsor visas for finance associates in Iowa?
Principal Financial Group and Transamerica, both headquartered in Des Moines, are among the most active H-1B sponsors for finance roles in Iowa. Wells Fargo, Nationwide, and Corteva Agriscience also have Iowa operations with documented sponsorship histories. Community banks and regional credit unions generally sponsor less frequently, so targeting large financial services and insurance employers improves your odds of finding sponsorship.
Which visa types are most common for finance associate roles in Iowa?
The H-1B is the most common visa for finance associate roles in Iowa, as these positions typically require a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or economics, meeting the specialty occupation standard. F-1 graduates with OPT or STEM OPT authorization can work before H-1B sponsorship begins. Candidates from Australia may consider the E-3 visa, and Canadian or Mexican nationals may qualify under the TN visa category for financial analyst roles.
Which cities in Iowa have the most finance associate sponsorship jobs?
Des Moines is Iowa's dominant market for finance associate sponsorship jobs, anchored by its concentration of insurance companies, regional banks, and financial services firms. Cedar Rapids has a secondary cluster of finance employers including Transamerica operations and manufacturing finance divisions. Iowa City benefits from proximity to the University of Iowa and its associated financial institutions, while Davenport serves as a hub for Quad Cities-area financial employers.
How to find finance associate visa sponsorship jobs in Iowa?
Migrate Mate filters finance associate jobs in Iowa specifically by visa sponsorship eligibility, so you're not sorting through postings that won't support international candidates. Search for finance associate roles in Des Moines and Cedar Rapids first, where sponsorship activity is highest. Filtering by H-1B sponsor history helps identify employers like Principal Financial Group and larger regional institutions that have an established track record with international hires.
Are there state-specific considerations for finance associates seeking sponsorship in Iowa?
Iowa's finance sector is heavily weighted toward insurance and agricultural finance, so candidates with coursework or experience in risk management, actuarial science, or commodity finance have a competitive edge with Iowa-based sponsors. The University of Iowa and Iowa State University produce strong local pipelines, meaning international candidates benefit from differentiating with specialized credentials. Employers must pay the Department of Labor prevailing wage for finance associate roles under H-1B rules, which is publicly verifiable through DOL disclosure data.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored finance associate jobs in Iowa?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
