Which companies sponsor visas for healthcare assistants in Iowa?
The largest visa-sponsoring employers for healthcare assistant roles in Iowa include UnityPoint Health, University of Iowa Health Care, MercyOne, and Genesis Health System. Large hospital networks and academic medical centers are more likely to sponsor visas than small independent clinics, as they have established HR and legal infrastructure to manage the sponsorship process.
Which visa types are most common for healthcare assistant roles in Iowa?
The H-1B visa applies only if the healthcare assistant role qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a relevant bachelor's degree, which is not always the case for this title. Many international candidates in healthcare support roles instead enter through the EB-3 (Other Workers) immigrant visa pathway, or work on OPT if they recently graduated from a U.S. institution. TN status applies to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying healthcare occupations.
Which cities in Iowa have the most healthcare assistant sponsorship jobs?
Des Moines, Iowa City, and Cedar Rapids concentrate the highest volume of healthcare assistant hiring in Iowa. Des Moines is home to large health systems like UnityPoint Health and MercyOne Iowa Heart Center. Iowa City is anchored by University of Iowa Health Care, one of the state's largest academic medical employers. Cedar Rapids and Davenport also have active hospital networks with recurring hiring needs.
How to find healthcare assistant visa sponsorship jobs in Iowa?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find healthcare assistant visa sponsorship jobs in Iowa. The platform filters job listings specifically to employers that sponsor visas, so you're not sifting through postings from companies that won't support international candidates. You can filter by state and role to surface Iowa-specific healthcare assistant opportunities at hospital networks, long-term care facilities, and clinical support employers.
Are there any Iowa-specific considerations for healthcare assistants seeking visa sponsorship?
Iowa has a notable rural healthcare staffing shortage, which has led some regional health systems and critical access hospitals to pursue international hiring more actively than in urban markets. University of Iowa's graduate programs also create a pipeline of international students who may transition to healthcare assistant or clinical support roles on OPT. Candidates should verify that their specific job title and duties meet the requirements of the visa category their employer intends to sponsor.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored healthcare assistant jobs in Iowa?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
