Which companies sponsor visas for healthcare assistants in Michigan?
The largest sponsors for healthcare assistant roles in Michigan are major health systems, including Henry Ford Health, Corewell Health (formerly Beaumont), Michigan Medicine, and Ascension Michigan. These organizations operate across multiple campuses and have established HR processes for international hiring. Smaller regional hospitals and long-term care networks also sponsor on occasion, though less frequently than large integrated health systems.
Which visa types are most common for healthcare assistant roles in Michigan?
H-1B visa is the most recognized work visa, but healthcare assistant positions often fall outside specialty occupation requirements, making sponsorship less straightforward under that category. EB-3 immigrant visas are a more common pathway for direct-care roles, particularly when employers are willing to sponsor permanent residency. Some facilities also hire through the J-1 visa exchange visitor program for specific clinical support roles.
Which cities in Michigan have the most healthcare assistant sponsorship jobs?
Detroit and its surrounding metro area, including Dearborn and Royal Oak, account for the highest concentration of healthcare assistant openings given the density of hospital campuses there. Ann Arbor is significant due to Michigan Medicine and the University of Michigan Health System. Grand Rapids, home to Corewell Health's west Michigan operations, is the other major hiring hub for direct-care support roles.
How to find healthcare assistant visa sponsorship jobs in Michigan?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for roles where employers have indicated openness to visa sponsorship, including healthcare assistant positions across Michigan. Rather than sorting through thousands of general postings, you can browse Michigan-specific healthcare assistant opportunities on Migrate Mate and focus your applications on employers already familiar with international hiring and work authorization requirements.
Are there state-specific considerations for healthcare assistants seeking sponsorship in Michigan?
Michigan requires healthcare assistants in certain settings to meet state-specific certification standards, such as Certified Nurse Aide registration through the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs. International candidates should confirm their credentials align with Michigan's requirements before applying. The state's strong university hospital system also means academic medical centers are among the more experienced employers when it comes to navigating international hiring processes.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored healthcare assistant jobs in Michigan?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
