Which companies sponsor visas for healthcare assistants in South Dakota?
Sanford Health and Avera Health are the two dominant employers sponsoring visas for healthcare assistants in South Dakota. Both operate large hospital networks and long-term care facilities across the state. Monument Health in Rapid City and smaller regional medical centers also participate in sponsorship, particularly when local hiring pipelines fall short of staffing needs in rural and semi-rural service areas.
Which visa types are most common for healthcare assistant roles in South Dakota?
The H-1B visa is the most common pathway for healthcare assistants whose roles qualify as specialty occupations, though this applies primarily to clinical roles requiring a specific bachelor's degree. Many healthcare assistant positions are filled through the EB-3 immigrant visa, which covers skilled and unskilled workers and is frequently used by hospitals sponsoring direct support staff. Some facilities also work with J-1 visa exchange visitor programs for eligible candidates.
Which cities in South Dakota have the most healthcare assistant sponsorship jobs?
Sioux Falls is by far the most active city for healthcare assistant sponsorship in South Dakota, home to the headquarters of both Sanford Health and Avera Health. Rapid City is the second-largest market, anchored by Monument Health. Aberdeen and Watertown see more limited sponsorship activity but do post openings, particularly through Avera's regional network, as rural facilities face ongoing staffing shortages.
How to find healthcare assistant visa sponsorship jobs in South Dakota?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find healthcare assistant visa sponsorship jobs in South Dakota. The platform filters job listings specifically for roles where employers are open to sponsoring work visas, saving you from sorting through listings that won't lead anywhere. Searching by state lets you focus on Sioux Falls, Rapid City, and surrounding areas where South Dakota's major health systems actively post sponsorship-eligible positions.
Are there any state-specific considerations for healthcare assistants seeking visa sponsorship in South Dakota?
South Dakota's large rural geography means many sponsored positions are in underserved or Health Professional Shortage Areas, which can affect employer urgency to hire internationally. The state has no income tax, which influences total compensation comparisons. Employers sponsoring through EB-3 must complete a PERM labor certification demonstrating no qualified U.S. workers were available, a process that typically adds 12 to 24 months before a green card application can be filed.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored healthcare assistant jobs in South Dakota?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
