Which companies sponsor visas for program directors in Iowa?
UnityPoint Health, University of Iowa, Iowa State University, and Mercy Medical Center are among the Iowa employers that have sponsored H-1B visas for program directors. Larger healthcare networks and research universities tend to have dedicated HR infrastructure for sponsorship. Nonprofit organizations and state agencies occasionally sponsor as well, though at lower frequency than healthcare and higher education employers.
Which visa types are most common for program director roles in Iowa?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for program directors in Iowa, since the role typically requires a master's degree or higher in a specialized field, meeting the specialty occupation standard. Candidates from Canada or Mexico may qualify for TN visas under management consultant or certain educational classifications. O-1 visas apply to candidates with extraordinary achievement in their program area.
Which cities in Iowa have the most program director sponsorship jobs?
Des Moines and Iowa City account for the largest share of program director sponsorship activity in Iowa. Des Moines drives demand through its healthcare corridor and growing nonprofit sector, while Iowa City benefits from the University of Iowa's research and academic programs. Cedar Rapids also sees periodic openings, particularly in healthcare administration and community services organizations.
How to find program director visa sponsorship jobs in Iowa?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship willingness, making it straightforward to identify Iowa employers actively hiring program directors who require sponsorship. You can search by role and state to surface openings at healthcare systems, universities, and nonprofits that have a documented history of H-1B filings. This saves significant time compared to manually reviewing employer immigration histories.
Are there state-specific considerations for program director sponsorship in Iowa?
Iowa's program director market is heavily shaped by its healthcare and higher education sectors, both of which are familiar with H-1B sponsorship processes. The University of Iowa and Iowa State University also create a graduate talent pipeline that some employers leverage when hiring international candidates. Prevailing wage requirements for program director roles are determined by the Department of Labor based on the specific county and job level, so employers in Des Moines and Iowa City may have different wage obligations than those in smaller markets.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored program director jobs in Iowa?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
