Which manufacturing companies sponsor F-1 OPT visas in Kansas?
Kansas manufacturers with documented histories of hiring international workers include Spirit AeroSystems and Textron Aviation in Wichita, Cargill and Tyson Foods in western Kansas, AGCO Corporation in Hesston, and Cessna's parent operations across the state. These employers hire in engineering, quality assurance, supply chain, and production planning roles that commonly align with OPT-eligible STEM degrees.
Which cities in Kansas have the most manufacturing F-1 OPT sponsorship jobs?
Wichita accounts for the largest share of manufacturing F-1 OPT opportunities in Kansas, driven by its aerospace and defense manufacturing sector. Salina and Hutchinson have industrial equipment and food processing employers. Dodge City and Liberal have large-scale meat processing facilities. Kansas City, Kansas also has a growing manufacturing base with employers in automotive and consumer goods production.
What types of manufacturing roles typically qualify for F-1 OPT sponsorship?
Roles that most consistently qualify for F-1 OPT in manufacturing require a direct connection to a STEM degree. These include mechanical and industrial engineering positions, quality control engineering, manufacturing process engineering, supply chain analysis, and materials science roles. Production technician and operator roles do not typically qualify unless the position requires and applies a specific engineering or science degree.
How do I find manufacturing F-1 OPT sponsorship jobs in Kansas?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international students and filters manufacturing jobs in Kansas by visa type, including F-1 OPT. Rather than sorting through postings that don't address sponsorship, Migrate Mate surfaces employers who have sponsored international workers in manufacturing. You can filter by location to focus on Wichita, the Kansas City metro, or other Kansas cities where manufacturing hiring is active.
Are there any Kansas-specific considerations for F-1 OPT sponsorship in manufacturing?
Kansas manufacturing is heavily weighted toward aerospace and food processing, meaning OPT candidates with engineering degrees tied to those sectors have the most relevant options in the state. Kansas State University and Wichita State University produce graduates in aerospace, industrial, and mechanical engineering who compete for these roles. OPT authorization must be in place before starting work, and STEM OPT extension eligibility depends on whether the employer is enrolled in E-Verify.
