Which companies sponsor visas for hvac roles in Kansas?
National contractors and manufacturers with a Kansas presence are the most active sponsors. Johnson Controls and Daikin Applied have filed for skilled HVAC positions in the state, alongside large mechanical contractors serving Wichita's aviation and manufacturing sectors. Healthcare systems like Stormont Vail Health also hire HVAC engineers for facilities management roles that have historically attracted sponsored candidates.
Which visa types are most common for hvac roles in Kansas?
H-2B visas cover temporary, non-agricultural skilled trades workers and are used for HVAC installers and technicians with seasonal demand spikes. H-1B visas apply when the role is framed as a specialty occupation, typically HVAC systems engineers or energy efficiency engineers requiring a bachelor's degree. TN visas are available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering classifications.
Which cities in Kansas have the most hvac sponsorship jobs?
Wichita concentrates the most HVAC opportunity, driven by its aerospace manufacturing base and large commercial construction pipeline. Kansas City (Kansas side) follows closely, with ongoing industrial and healthcare facility development. Topeka, as the state capital, generates steady demand through government and institutional building maintenance. Overland Park also attracts HVAC engineering roles tied to corporate campuses.
How to find hvac visa sponsorship jobs in Kansas?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it easier to identify Kansas HVAC employers who are open to sponsoring international workers. Rather than sifting through general job postings, you can search directly for HVAC roles in Kansas and see which employers have a documented sponsorship history, saving significant time in your job search.
Are there state-specific considerations for hvac visa sponsorship in Kansas?
Kansas requires HVAC technicians to hold a state mechanical contractor license for independent work, which can affect how employers classify sponsored roles. DOL prevailing wage rules mean employers must pay the federally determined rate for the relevant occupation and region before sponsoring an H-2B or H-1B worker. Wichita's ties to the aviation industry also create demand for HVAC engineers with cleanroom and precision environment experience.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored hvac jobs in Kansas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
