Which companies sponsor visas for HVAC roles in Texas?
TDIndustries, headquartered in Dallas, is one of the most active mechanical contractors in Texas and has a history of sponsoring skilled tradespeople. Comfort Systems USA, also based in Houston, operates multiple subsidiaries across the state. Large commercial construction firms and building systems contractors are the most consistent sponsors, as they have the legal infrastructure and volume of work to support H-1B or H-2B petitions for qualified HVAC professionals.
Which visa types are most common for HVAC jobs in Texas?
H-2B is the most common visa for HVAC technicians and installers, covering temporary non-agricultural workers in skilled trades. H-1B applies to HVAC engineers or energy systems professionals with a relevant bachelor's degree, as it requires a specialty occupation. Some roles in building systems design or mechanical engineering may qualify under H-1B, while hands-on installation and service technician roles typically fall under H-2B or employer-sponsored EB-3 pathways.
How to find hvac visa sponsorship jobs in Texas?
Migrate Mate filters HVAC job listings specifically by visa sponsorship status and state, making it straightforward to identify Texas employers actively willing to sponsor. Search for HVAC roles filtered to Texas on Migrate Mate to find positions from commercial contractors, building systems companies, and mechanical engineering firms. This avoids sifting through listings where sponsorship is unavailable or unconfirmed, which is a common time drain for international applicants.
Which cities in Texas have the most HVAC sponsorship jobs?
Houston leads due to its massive commercial real estate sector, petrochemical facilities, and healthcare campuses, all of which require large-scale HVAC systems. Dallas-Fort Worth follows closely, with commercial construction and data center growth creating sustained demand for HVAC engineers and technicians. San Antonio and Austin are growing markets, particularly Austin given its tech-driven office and mixed-use development boom, which has increased demand for mechanical systems professionals.
Are there any Texas-specific considerations for HVAC visa sponsorship?
Texas's climate places exceptional demand on HVAC systems, particularly commercial cooling, which keeps hiring relatively consistent year-round compared to northern states. Employers sponsoring H-2B workers must meet Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements specific to the Texas metro where the work occurs, and wages differ between Houston, Dallas, and smaller markets. Texas has no state income tax, which affects total compensation comparisons, and the state's construction pipeline means project-based roles are common alongside permanent positions.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored hvac jobs in Texas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
